I am Paul MacBay, born September 1969 in Charleston SC. and I have been a Smashing Pumpkins fan since Gish... I had a friend that worked in the record business and she turned me on to the Pumpkins early on. I've been hooked since. I've been lucky enough to see them live 6 times from 1994 through 2010. I have a crap load of their CD's, from full LP's to singles and EP's. There is not an album they've released that I didn't like. I like some songs better than others, but find something to appreciate in all of them.

The following is a list of the shows I've been to:
April 21, 1994 - CCBC Golden Dome, Pittsburgh PA.
July 30, 1994 - Starlake Ampitheater, Pittsburgh PA (Lollapalooza Tour)
September 6, 1996 - Civic Arena, Pittsburgh PA.
April 17, 1999 - Metropol Club, Pittsburgh PA.
October 9, 2007 - AJ Palumbo Center, Pittsburgh PA
July 24, 2010 - Mr Smalls Theater, Pittsburgh PA

I moved to Pittsburgh, PA. back in 1993 from Charleston SC. and have been to see them anytime they came through the Burgh. When I saw them for the second time in 94, I had already gotten my tickets for Lollapalooza and had intended on seeing Nirvana headline that show. Obviously that's not the way it turned out... but I was just as happy to see the Pumpkins again that year. Sadly, I never got to see Nirvana play live before Kurt's demise. Most of the shows I attended were at smaller venues which made for a much better time. The Golden Dome is the arena at Beaver County Community College, the AJ Palumbo Center is the arena at Duquesne University, Metropol Club, now Club Zoo, is a nightclub that holds maybe a thousand people, and Mr Smalls Theater is an old church that was converted into a nightclub. The show I liked most was probably the first show I saw them. They were full of emotion and it was the original band lineup. They played an almost 20 minute version of Silver Fuck with a Somewhere Over The Rainbow improv in the middle of the song... and an ultra version of I Am One.

I've never got to see a Zwan show, mainly because they never came to Pittsburgh. I started planning to see them in 2003 in Cleveland, but it just didn't work out. I suppose it's doubtful that I will ever get to see them at this point. I still hope to see another Pumpkins tour in the future.

Over the past year, I've been picking up the new TearGarden by Kaleidyscope box sets. I bought the first 2 and downloaded the third (one song) set off their website. I hope they pick back up with making those box sets in those wonderful packaging set ups. Sadly I'm so obvious about my love for the Pumpkins, the owner of the local record store called me personally both times to let me know when they came in. He actually holds them for me and won't let any of his other customers near them. That's love for you... although I do spend a shit load of money in his store. There are a few bands that I feel the need to buy ALL the CD's from. ie; Tool, Pearl Jam, NIN, Monster Magnet, Blind Melon, Isis, etc...

I really like the new music, like American Gothic and Zeitgeist, but find myself throwing in the old stuff all the time, like Gish and Adore. I also like the other Pumpkins fans I've met or run into on the net... all seem to have a common theme, such as being intelligent, and caring personable people. I hope to find more friends and those with common interests here on this site. Much love to you all... hit me up anytime to share whatever.
