Set The Ray To Jerry (heavy) (ancientprotector)

Always loved this song, and wanted to try it out heavy one day. I performed, recorded and mixed everything you hear on it. Hope you like it!

  • the recording quality is ace, love the way the guitars cascade together. I think the vocals could be tweaked, either the way you sing or just mixing them or adding an effect. I'm not sure what's bugging me about them. But I think your voice fits the music well. Overall, great track!

  • awesome

  • Thanks guys! My voice isn't my best instrument, I can do a lot with it but no matter what I can't seem to like the way it sounds! I was singing the chorus at the very top of my range, I can hit the notes but I think it sounds a little funny. I could sing it an octave lower like billy does, but then it seems to lack power.

  • I don't hate the way you sing, the vocals just need to be pushed back a little, and maybe add an effect or two.

  • Hmm, what effects are you thinking? I've already got them jam packed with de-eser, eq, compressor, chorus, reverb, delay... and I'm not a fan at all of vocals that sound "effected". If I push it back in the mix any further I lose them, so I think I should just try a different mic. I was using a shure sm7 into an empirical labs mike-e, which should in theory be awesome. Maybe I should just screw with it more, I did record the vocals almost all in one take.

  • This is fucking amazing.

  • Me Likey 8-)

  • Damn... This is a really great cover! I was concerned how the vocals would be (as those are usually the one thing people consistently blow it on), but damn, you really hit those notes, man. I love the groove, the heaviness, the powerful drums. All around, a really badass cover.
