Hello again my friends. I hope this finds all of you well! We have been working day and night in the studio and I am happy to say that the drums are finished! After almost a year of work, to finally sit down and listen to the drum takes, one after another, was a truly joyful experience. I can honestly say that this has been one of the most musically satisfying and spiritually rewarding trips I have ever been on. And what a long strange trip it's been! Our music has pulled us ever closer to the Heart and the Heart is beating true. We are moving closer to the light now, so about halfway there. I hope you can join us 'O Children of the Sun' Love, JC

Thanks Washburns! I just saw this pop up in my MySpace. Half way done doesn't give me any great confidence that we will see an album in January, as speculated

Somehow I think he means half done in reference to the process. Perhaps the second half won't take nearly as long as it could very well not involve any further recording.

I think he means that they're halfway through recording, not that there's another year left until the album comes out. MCIS took 6 months to record, and I doubt a new album would take that long.

Simple maths! 6 months, 4 band members, 28 album tracks for MCIS

New album will feature 2 members and half the amount of songs. Therefore half the time. 3 months!

Also, I found this picture on Netphoria, apparently it's a new one of BC in the studio.

Usually they record the drums first, then build around them. As far as the "after a years work" line you must remember that they had to have time to actually write the songs and work out the sequences. All this must be done before they start recording so I agree with siamesedreamer that they are probably half way through the actual recording process which doesn't take that long. Actually writing the songs is the hardest part and we are well past that stage. Early 07 I think is a reasonable time frame- maybe not Jan. but I think definitely March is reasonable....maybe they'll release a single on Billy's Birthday???

yeah, the rest of the time was writing. because remember how they said they were supposed to be in the studio earlier this year, but everyone got mad cause they found out billy was helping courtney love and hanging out with paris and all that stuff? then about mid summer jimmy said somewhere that they were preparing to go into the studio? but they've been writing those songs way longer than a year haven't they?! last year, not too long after billy's announcement about the pumpkins, jimmy said they already had writtin 40+ songs or some crap like that! i may have my timeline messed up quite a bit though. my memory doesn't tend to serve me well

That thought has always been in my mind...

Also, can anyone make out what gear jimmy is using, it looks like sabian cymbols to me , going for a classic SP feel i hope.

I am a drummer and i've never really heard of tracking drums first THEN writing around them. It is usually the other way around from extensive studio experience both session and with a few other bands. The songs are completely written when official tracking begins. There isnt usually anymore work to be done. Now, if they decide to make a last minute change, its usually on the order of guitar/bass/vocals. Drums aren't so much of a pain in the ass to track, it can just take a lot longer because you're recording a lot of things happening at once. With Jimmy being done or nearly done tracking the drums, i would imagine itll be a few weeks for guitars/bass/vocals to be tracked. God only knows how long mixing will take.
