TOPIC: The Future Embrace.

Re: The Future Embrace. 1 year 3 months ago #110634

I agree there, although I can see a connection in Zeitgeist, as well. Imagine Zeitgeist with a rawer production and more involved vocals...continuation of Machina II. Especially the heavier tracks.

I'm gonna listen to TFE again, give it a good hard listen. So far I like the first two tracks. Bit 5 is fantastic. Tilt was okay the last time I listened to it.

Anyone know where I can listen to the Chicago songs?

And does anyone have an mp3 of Tilt? I lost mine.

Mina Loy, DIA, & Camera Eye are three of Billy best songs, period. I love the electronic gothic vibe of the album. Seems to be the kind of stuff Billy naturally gravitates towards when he's without a band.

BTW, it was on the Future Embrace Tour that I saw Billy or the Pumpkins live for the first time, if you can believe it! Six or seven years ago now. The hiatus caused by the first Pumpkins break up was the reason I guess. Though I dont think they ever got down to Aus much even before then. Seen the Pumpkins twice since however.

I saw Billy for the first time in 2005 also. They didn't tour Aus with the Machina tour, which was a huge disappointment back then.

I could have easily seen Camera Eye on Machina, it would have fit perfectly. They're all watching poor old Glass die before the camera's eye! A100 kicks ass and takes names too, but D.I.A., is classic SP Billy and Jimmy at their best just like Loki Cat.

I once played A100 for this girl and she said it sounded sexy as hell. Guess that says something. As far as Billy goes, that intro is probably the most seductive thing he's recorded. I could see it being remixed and played in club (whether that is a good thing or a bad thing is up to you). Still, great song.

I'd rank it like this:

-Walking Shade
-Mina Loy (M.O.H.)
-Tilt
-TheCameraEye
-Now (And Then)
-A100
-DIA
-tolovesomebody
-Strayz
-Sorrows
-All Things Change

-Pretty, Pretty Star

-I'm Ready

To Love Somebody is one of my favourites - I like the way Robert Smith's vocals piss all over Billy's, even though they're pushed so far back in the mix you can barely hear them ;)

I really don't mind I'm Ready or Pretty Pretty Star that much. I didn't actually like To Love Somebody that much.

I think "To Love Somebody" would have been a better B-side than an album song. I love pretty Pretty Star and I like I'm Ready.
But nothing can top M.O.H., Camera Eye, A100, DIA
