I would kind fo like to see James back as well. Only two original Pumpkins just wouldn't feel right. I know Billy will pick whoever he feels will be able to contribute the most, but I would still like to see at least 3 out of four old SP members.
And yes a news update would be nice but one must be patient when it comes to new SP!

In Wikipedia it says:
"According to an entry made on May 30, 2006 at his previous band, Polar Bear's website, former Jane's Addiction bassist Eric Avery may be the live bassist or session musician for the new lineup."

I don't know if you guys knew/talked about this before, but do you guys want to see him in the new pumpkins?
Nothing sure but if he must come to pumpkins you want him only has live bassist or session musician?

The smashing pumpkins is not just a band, it has a soul, if billy wants eric then i respect his opinion, but everyone else will just be second best to D'arcy

Melissa did the job just as good as D'arcy, if not better. Plus Melissa is sexier and wore skin tight clothes... *drools*... but anyway.

Melissa learnt most of SP's back catalogue in just a few weeks which is quite impressive, plus she could actually play bass.

Apparently despite D'arcy recording Machina, Billy actually did a lot of the bass himself as it was too complex for her. There is a lot of debate on how much material she recorded for Machina, especially on Age Of Innocense which was likely to of been Melissa.

Age of Innocence was Melissa, I've heard it somewhere efore, I'm damn sure it is.

I remember a fan saying that he asked Melissa if she played bass on Age of Innocence and she said no.

I know that Age of Innocence was the last song written for the Machina/The Machiens of GOd album, Billy tells us that on the interview on 99x, but I agree it was Melissa who recorded just Age.

Age Of Innocense was the last song written, it was a last minute thing like 1979 was. Melissa may of been contracted as a "session musician" with no credit, and obligated to say she didnt play on it. But then again, it could of been D'arcy.

The most logical and most likely person to of played bass on AOI would of been Billy.

Actually, I posted this somewhere in another thread, but it's highly likely that James was the one who did the bass part for Age of Innocence.

He also did the bass part for Untitled.



The only track that Melissa ever recorded with the Pumpkins was Rock On. I'm not sure about the version of Pale Scales on the Greatest Hits DVD, but I know that's the only thing on record that she actually played with the band in the studio. The rest of the time it was either James or Billy who did bass parts during the Machina sessions.

You can actually tell who is who if you listen closely enough. As I've mentioned before, D'arcy had more of a transparency to her playing, so much that often it was hard to tell that she was playing with a pick. Billy as his dad once said, "plays bass like a guitar player." James' playing is entirely different in that it doesn't sound like he's just doubling. It's very good in my opinion.

Darcy is a great bass player, i mean just listen to bullet with butterfly wings, wow, im not sure if its hard to play (i play drums not bass) but it sounds kick ass anyway. Have you seen it when they performed it on SNL? its awesome.

I think D'arcy is secretly Flea from RHCP, but "quit" in '99 around the time Californication was released.
