Smashing Pumpkins' two new members have allegedly been unveiled.



As previously reported, original guitarist James Iha has said he would not be joining the band for their comeback, while original bassist D'arcy Wretzky has not commented publicly on whether she would be participating in the reunion.


Only frontman Billy Corgan and drummer Jimmy Chamberlain remain from the original band.

Although the group's publicist Mitch Schneider said management have not yet confirmed the lineup to him, the Chicago Tribune has reported that the group's new bassist is Ginger Reyes (formerly of the Halo Friendlies). Iha's replacement will be Jeff Schroeder guitarist from Californian band Lassie Foundation, reports MTV News.

However, neither Schroeder nor Reyes have confirmed their involvement officially, reports Yahoo! News.

In other news, two people have been imprisoned following the theft of artwork expected to feature on the comeback album from Smashing Pumpkins. The band's studio in Chicago is understood to have been burgled last week, but the thieves did not steal any of the valuable equipment or recordings inside.

Instead, the band's management has confirmed that a series of images were taken and then leaked to a Pumpkins fansite. They have since been removed. "Management for the Smashing Pumpkins confirms that the band's rehearsal studio in Chicago was burglarized last week," a statement reads.

"The two people who are now in jail illegally gained access to the band's private space and stole various items belonging to them over the course of several hours while the band had left for the evening.

"The band's management says the group feels their rights have been violated by this crime and will always pursue their rights and the law to protect their property and the safety of themselves, their families and their fans."

According to Pitchfork, photos of Paris Hilton standing in front of an exploding bomb, five children saluting and a close-up of Corgan in a hoodie were amongst those stolen. They are thought to be under consideration for the artwork for the new Pumpkins album, Zeitgeist, which is due for release on July 9.

When I hear stuff like this, I have to try really hard to discount it. Because, I really don't want to believe that Billy would have any part in allowing this...I mean, yeah, it was completely wrong breaking (or, if there was no breaking involved, "going") into their rehearsal space, and taking things, and posting them online (or letting them be posted - whatever). And I can completely understand the band being uber-pissed at all of the above - especially the fact that their privacy wasn't respected. But, jail? $100,000? Seriously, if Billy is at all political on Zeitgeist, I can't imagine being able to take him (or his political commentaries) seriously, after this.

Yeah it's all over music news. Everytime they discuss SP on the radio they talk about the myspace tribute and then they say, "speaking of the pumpkins" they mention the kids and then say that it's 100,000 dollars. I bet they were really let down by Billy's choices-if they were his choices.

i was on vh1.com earlier and they had the story so it's big they never really have much news on the pumpkins!!!!!

Nowhere really has new news about the pumpkins unless it's here or netphoria, but they're pretty bitter over there.

They are bitter...but I still get news there. It's usually about a day (at least) ahead of here.

I will concede that they get they seem to get their information earlier than anyone else. Although 3/4 of what is posted seems to be rumor or blatant misinformation. I guess the headaches from sifting through all the junk info for the real info is the price they pay.

That is true, they do get a lot of information much faster, considering the stolen pictures were found there, but they are snobby, but still a pumpkin fan is a pumpkin fan!
