Anyone else starting to think we might not get the first song till after the benefit show on the 8th? They're rehearsing at the moment...I hope we don't have to wait that long (yes, I do realise it's only 3 days till then...but exceptional Pumpkins-related circumstances make one more impatient, you know).

on boy, if thats how the new songs sound, i might have to give up the pumpkins forever... sometimes it drives me crazy to think how a guy could go from albums as great as siamese dream and mcis to this... but i guess thats how it is for almost all musicians.

you don't have to give them up forever. you can just be more of a nostalgia fan and enjoy the old pumpkins.

i don't know about this new stuff. i will wait for the downloads/ album, but i usually prefer music with less rainbows and sunshine. i'm not big on easy listening. it sounds alright though. it might just have to grow on me? i don't know anymore really. i don't follow the "developments" in SP land to closely anymore.

I've enjoyed the three clips so far, but I'll hold my opinion till I actually listen to full songs a few times.

I thought Shadowland had similarities to old SP stuff - a bit like Adore or the acoustic stuff on MCIS.

I think it's important to remember that what we are hearing in these leaks may or may not (more likely not) sound at all like the final product. Especially with shadowland....that's probably just a slightly polished demo version of that song with primarily just guitar and vocals. I'm not jumping off any bridges here until we start getting final versions of songs. lol...

Yeah, I liked the Pumpkins better back when Billy was unhappy...

i hate to say it, but i agree. i wish Billy himself happiness and what not, but pissed off, melancholic Billy made music more to my tastes.

Shadowland is clearly just a demo, yeah. I'm not gonna jump to conclusions about it, but it's the vocal melody itself that I have the issue with...for some reason it just doesn't "click" / isn't very exciting. I doubt he'll change that for the studio recording, but I'll gladly be proved wrong - and as I've said before, a more interesting production could also improve it. I'll just say I don't think where that demo is at is great, heh.

P.S. When I hear the name Shadowland, I can't help thinking of the Ryan Adams song The Shadowlands, which is fantastic...

I've been thinking about this a bit lately and I think that maybe whats stopping us from comparing SP2 music to SP1 music is those damn vocals!! They are WAY too high in the mix and I really hope that Teargarden isnt like Zeitgeist in that respect...

yeah, your exactly right. its the vocals that are terrible. and whoever said it earlier is also right, his music was better when he was depressed haha.
