It's OK. The song's a bit too 'flower power' for me.

Some pretty cool sounds though.

I'm also not keen on the sound of Mike's kit. I miss Jimmy's snare.

It's okay I guess. Fairly simple. Not a fan of the production still though.

Billy says "fuckin'".
Good stripped down production, the best production for years imo.
The song itself...well...not exactly like the Smashing Pumpkins, more like a kinda parody, there's very much ZWAN in it (if MACHINA was the deconstruction, Teargarden clearly is the parody).

EP2 - The Solstice Bare....cool title sounds really very "Pumpkins-ish".

...and what about the omniscient shaman of the swamp on the website? ;)

Sounds cool but I think it needs time to grow on me some more.
probably my favorite so far though :)

Now I got it:
The song totally reminds me of Queen.
Like one of their happy side-a-is-over-tunes in the...well, let's say...Kind of magic era, maybe?

The production is good, better then it has been. I agree, there is a lot of Zwan, I personally like Zwan so I am fine with that.

I LOVE IT! It sounds like Zwan!

But what the fuck is up with the cover art that came with it? It's hideous...

the mp3 file said "(Explicit)" so it has to be code for badass! :roll

It was cooler sounding than we what we've gotten so far, I think it definitely will grow on me better than the last few.

I did get some Widow Wake My Mind vibes from the rhythm though. And there were a few "Ohs" interspersed in there that kind of brought back traumatic memories...but an improvement I'd say, overall

In terms of production, etc. - I think there should have been more guitars going on to make for a "bigger" sound - apart from that though, the melodies and vocals are MUCH better than we've had so far. This is the first time that it feels like this is an actual song with Billy actually singing.

I'm optimistic for the rest of the EP. Cautiously.

Yes, I know from a trusted source that this artwork was deleted after Billy decided not to call the EP#2: "Songs for circus animals". ;)

Definitely a Zwan vibe on this one, and I think it works very well. After a couple of listens, it seems this one is the most radio-friendly of the whole project thus far; something you can play in the car with the windows down and the volume up. I also think it's kind of a summertime tune, which obviously is pretty good timing. Overall I'm satisfied with this one. Can't wait to hear it live.

Holy crap! I think this song is great! I didn't think the first four songs were terrible, but they were definitely disappointing. I downloaded this thinking I was going to be in for another disappointment, but boy was I wrong.

I'm absolutely delighted with Freak! A very good song and for the first time in this project, I've been listening to it non-stop since I downloaded it. What a great song!

Better than WWMM, but then again, just about any song by any band at any time is better than WWMM....

It's OK....I was hoping to be wow'ed but I'm not. I do dig the low end crunchiness to the bass and guitar distortion....and the production is better...but it's almost too good...too clean and "perfect" if that makes sense. And he says fuck, which makes me laugh. haha at least there isn't an entire verse of "oh, oh, oh, yeah, yeah's"....but we did get some la-la-la-la's which I don't care for.

He seemed to put a lot of attention on the fuck by calling the song explicit. Usually I don't really notice cursing in songs but this one seemed to really stand out.

It just hit me the chorus sounds like Local H's "All the kids are right." The syllables of "Life is not a dream" fall in almost exactly the same cadence.
