Fantastic opener.
It's the middle of the album

Am I the only one who forces himself to sit thru the whole thing most of the time listening to MCIS?
If I haven't got the time, it's just Disc 2....sorry for my sermon but I have never before seen that tune as a sort of opener...interesting point of view though

Yeah, I only put MCIS on when I have 2 hours to spare, listen to the whole thing. Same with Machina I & II as well, since I've grown to fully appreciate it.
In my photo classes we talk about presenting our work, and the spaces between each photo can represent visual pauses as opposed to putting each photo next to each other. There's a pause between the two discs, whether they intended it or not. There are exceptions with mp3 players and vinyl... but there's that short breath of release when you switch the discs. And when disc two starts back up, it sucks you right back in to the album. It's not really the "opener" but it is a new beginning within the album.
Yeah I would have to agree. It's like Dawn to Dusk is part 1 of the journey and Twilight to Starlight is part 2 of the journey. I used to jump around a lot with music, still do. But generally I'm in a listening to album and shows all the way through mood, even if it takes a while lol.
When I first listened to Mellon Collie and was first getting into the band I only listened to handful of songs until I finally sat down and listened to the album all the way through and loved it. Although sometimes I would still jump around depending on my mood. Sometimes I would just skip "Tales of A Scorched Earth" as it's quite grating to me at times.
But anyways, I'm giving "Where Boys Fear To Tread" an 8.5 out of 10.
