Well shit. If it's vinyl I'll probably just sell it on ebay. I don't even have a record player. lol

I used to have a record player my Dad gave me, but it broke, piece of shit.

I have both Teargarden By Kaleidoscope on CD and Vinyl. I know a guy who has a record player that hooks up to a computer so I have both Songs For A Sailor and The Solstice Bare in high quality on CD.

I have a record player. I have a little corner of my room as a dedicated vinyl listening station. Haha!

The only Vinyl Records I have are the Teargarden By Kaleidoscope Eps. I think Vinyl Records are just too much trouble, Compact Disc can be copied and played in you car, on a stereo, and on a computer.

They often give you a download code for the MP3s in the vinyls today...I tend to feel free to download the digital album when it isn't, anyway...

My record collection has quadrupled in the past 18 months thanks to SP. I definitely feel the need to get a record player. I would love to listen to Adore on Vinyl, although that's not one I own yet.

So I have my flexidisc now. It looks exactly like this one.

That's not my ebay listing. But I am interested in selling mine to the right buyer, because I honestly can't justify buying a record player specifically so I can listen to this one song. PM me if you're interested in it. I'd rather sell it to somebody on here who I know really wants it than deal with the hassle of an ebay listing.

I think so. :D

I love putting a record on, sitting back and relaxing. Something about the sound of the needle coming in contact with the record, nothing quite like it.

Man, I'm jealous, haha.

@Glass: Forget Adore and Machina 1, I just want Machina 2 rerelease!

Well, there isn't going to be a Machina 1 and Machina 2 anymore :)

There's a part of me that thinks if BC was going for a second Mellon Collie with the Machina release, you know, if he was seriously making a double album at that time - then record execs shouldn't have been able to say: "You know what Smashing Pumpkins. Fuck you, we just want half the album." Either BC sold out massively (bad move), or this is BS hype for the reissue, and some token excuse as to why Machina didn't sell as well as the previous albums.

Back then I remember reading in...um Rolling Stone, Guitar or some other poser's magazine Billy stating that he was going to do another double album, a sort of space opera in late 1999.
So I guess MACHINA was supposed to be a double album when he wrote it.
And to be honest, we easily could compile an epic double album by ourselves if just pick the best 15 MACHINA II tracks for the second disc.

I don't see why. After poor sales of Adore, SP no longer had much sway with the label and labels generally don't like releasing double albums (apparently). I do remember at the time hearing that it was supposed to be a double album but was vetoed by the label. I think leaking the other tracks for free was his way of getting back at them for doing that. A similar thing happened with The Cure's last album, which was supposed to be a double but the record label stopped it - they still haven't released the 2nd album worth of songs from that one either.
Last Edit: 1 year 2 weeks ago by epitome.

Well, Machina II is only 14 tracks (the other 11 are the out-takes from Machina, some of which would've been further b-sides). I really doubt there would've been two versions of Blue Skies on the double album though, so most likely it would've been 28 tracks in total - that'd add up to 2 hours of music (so the same as MCIS).

I'm very interested to see what the original track list would be. And the problem with just trying to compile our own double album is that the Machina II rips we have are too low quality.

I'm surprised there is any doubt over whether it was originally planned as a double album, as it's been well known since it was originally released. There are posts on here from me wishing Billy would tell us the original double album track list from well before any re-issues were announced.

GNR released two versions of Don't Cry on the UYI albums.

Finally picked up the Gish re-issue. I was in Chicago last week, so not only was it cheaper than in the UK, but it was appropriate too, heh. I haven't checked out the bonus disc or the DVD yet, but the album itself is pretty great - packs more "punch" than the original, I guess. I hadn't listened to Gish all the way through since I first bought the album (probably about 5 years ago now), so it was a relatively fresh experience. Not that I don't like them, but some of the rockers get a bit repetitive for me (I Am One, Tristessa, Bury Me). Rhinoceros is my favourite track on the album, but I really love Crush, Siva, Window Paine and Daydream too.

I'm really looking forward to all the coming re-issues of the original Pumpkins catalogue, in particular Mellon Collie and Adore!
As my tutor, old bubble face, used to say: "make love and be merry, for tomorrow you may catch some disgusting skin disease."

^Yeah I think Gish is definitely the weakest out of the original 5 pumpkins albums.
