Pretty awesome song, still like The Last Song better. I'm gonna give it a 9 though.

Simple, massive, entrancing. A staple SP song.

This is one of Smashing Pumpkins's best songs, it should have been on Mellon Collie, i rate it 10 / 10.

Why don't you like it?
Unpopular opinions about SP songs always are the most interesting things to learn more about :) .

This track is really fantastic, it should have been on Mellon Collie or Machina, 10.

It would have been interesting if it got the Machina treatment.

10. At times, this is my number one favorite Pumpkins song. Dark and Doomy all around.

Make sure you listen to the full length Boxset version with the calm depro ending and not the cut and bullshit one of the Judas O disc.

10/10
I didn't know that the version on the boxset is different from the greatest hits' one. :eek

I pretty much agree with everything that has been said of the song by the people who have already given it a 10, a really great song, a solid 10/10 from me too :)

That's funny, I never knew there was a cut one on the greatest hits, the depro ending is the best, especially hearing the fingers sliding up and down the strings on the acoustic.

I also found out years later when I finally got the set.
The Judas O version misses the whole ending.

I could totally see The Airplane Flies High, with low toned guitars and the chugging bass line like the all of the other Machina Era songs. I also think the theme of the songs would have fit the mood of Machina.

This is interesting and sth I never thought of. Maybe MACHINA Aeroplane would feature heavy synths.

Since Bullet For My Butterfly Wing is the only SP song I really don't like, I made myself and improved Mellon Collie Disc 1, having Bullet replaced by the full length version of Aeroplane.
Now that's what would have made a perfect album even "perfecter".

Yeah, heavy synths would be sweet in Aeroplane.

I think it would have been a good song to take Mellon Collie from heavy to slow. The Airplane Flies High should have either been on Mellon Collie Disc 2, or Machina / The Machines Of God. I was surprised to see someone else who thought that too!

I made my own reordered version of Mellon Collie that featured,

The Mellon Collie Theme Alternative Version (Track 1)

Transformer (Track 10)

Rotten Apples (Track 14)

Marquis in Spades (Track 24)

The Airplane Flies High (Track 25)

Set the Ray to Jerry (Track 26)

Pennies (Track 27)

Jupiter's Lament (Track 28)

By Starlight (Track 29), and

Farewell And Goodnight (Track 30).

I made the album a 30 track 3 disk album, I gave it to all my friends who liked Smashing Pumpkins and they were astonished by how much better it flowed.
