I really feel this is "The Second Coming" of The Smashing Pumpkins with Oceania. Although I have actually enjoy nearly of what the band have put out since the "band got back together" the release of Oceania and the coming really this like the start of something brand new to me.

The one thing I've kinda missed since the new line up is the "Theatre" the band had in the past, Ive always loved the make up and "costumes" have had at various times in the past and I'd love to see something totally new from the band on this tour.

But maybe that's just me... Here's to the rebirth!

It does seem like it could've just been a comment in the Oceania thread. Still, I've never really cared about having new threads created, apart from the obvious spam ones.

I think Murder's post is more about not sending bad vibes out to newcomers who aren't intentionally trying to disrupt. It's not very welcoming to post a Homer Simpson response, no matter how much it makes everyone else laugh (myself included :billy )

And this is why Billy hates his "fans". Why are you even on this forum? This thread isn't about the album, it's about the band/tour. Tool.

Sort of a strange idea for a topic... anyway, I'm not so sure Billy should break out the leather dresses and kimono's; but it would be cool if he got some sort of cool stage getup, maybe something equivalent to the Zero shirt and silver pants

Til I hear Oceania and approve it personally, I'm not declaring the second coming of nothing.

Nah...you wanna see why BC hates his fans? Visit a little site known as netphoria. Don't say I didn't warn you though. ;)
You're obliged to pretend respect for people and institutions you think absurd. You live attached in a cowardly fashion to moral and social conventions you despise, condemn, and know lack all foundation. It is that permanent contradiction between your ideas and desires and all the dead formalities...

Strange? In what way? Don't you feel that this a totally fresh start for the band after the last couple of years?

I would love the band to look more than just a bunch people with instruments, to me it's one of the things that make The Pumpkins The Pumpkins when playing live.

i hate costumed bands. i think it was best during Siamese Dream tours. they just looked like a band rather than spending time making stupid dress's and shit. but, each to their own

When I saw them a few years back, he wore a black shirt that said "NATURE" (stylized in the "Zero" font) and jeans. And they had like lollipops and flowers and shit on stage..fucking weird.

Agreed...for the most part. Bands that are already established as great musicians don't have to rely on constumes and shit on stage to please their crowd.

The set up for the Future Embrace tour was my favorite ever of any band I've seen.

As long as Mikey wears his samurai headband we will be just fine. But, seriously, I am much more concerned about Billy's voice than his clothes. I re-listened to My Love is Winter and, particularly in the beginning, Billy's voice will make or break that song. On the live recording he stays in a lower octave, which works for me. If the studio version has him kicking up into his nasally higher voice a la WWMM or Just A Stitch In Time, the song will not work. It will lose its heavy warmth and the contrast needed for the parts of the song that do go high ("no other", etc.)

For me, it is subtleties like this, not the songs themselves, that are responsible for any issues I have with SP2. My Love is Winter COULD be epic. And I mean EPIC (plus it gives Mikey a little play time).
