"I could say that your favourite moments are ... almost all the moments."

Yeah, but I didn't list the disappointing moments

Bad production on Zeitgeist

The bad reception The 20th Anniversary Tour received ( because fake fans wanted to hear only the singles and nothing else :sigh )

No studio versions of The Residency Song

No studio versions of The 20th Anniversary Tour Songs

F.O.L.

Jimmy leaving (which we now know is for health reasons)

Ginger leaving

Lisa leaving

No studio versions of The Backwards Clock Society Songs

Yeah they would have been happy if Smashing Pumpkins had only played the singles form Siamese Dream and Mellon Collie.

That would have been so boring :zzz

Jimmy left for health reasons, this is news to me.... Would someone be kind enough to shed some light on this? (This is either a legitimate question or I'm have been way too out of touch with the Pumpkins recently, but I would really like to know ,damned if I do, damned if I don't :D )

He had a heart attack in 2009 and then left the bands, so it only goes to reason that his health had something to do with it. He is a forty-eight-year-old man with a history of heavy drug abuse, and that can really put a strain on a heart. It really doesn't mater now anyway, I think Mike is a very important part of the band, the energy Mike and Nichole bring to the new lineup is what I think will push Oceania over the edge of good to great.

I know you're talking to Glass And The Ghost Children, but there's a big difference between recording a song in studio and playing heavy, hard, fast drums for a year or so straight while on world tour.

:thumbsup

- Billy goes on
- Songs: The leaving lament, The fellowship, FOL, Spangled, A stitch in time, A song for a son, Doomsdays clock
- the new Oceania songs
- Gish, Siamese Dream releases

:thumbsdown
- bad "Zeitgeist" production (even though the most songs are great)
- Dárcy, James and Jimmy aren´t in the band anymore (but this means nothing against the new members)
- canceled Munich concert in 2011
- Song: Astral planes

Re: What Are Your Favorite Post Reunion Moments? 1 year 1 month ago #111890

My favorite post-reunion moment was probably the first time I heard A Stitch In Time. It's not the high point god of all smashing pumpkins songs and not the best song they've made since the reunion, but there's something in that song that's been absent from smashing pumpkins music for a long time..... a sort of.... romanticism. The cold calculated machine was almost non-existent in the songwriting. That song was the one that got me very very excited about the future of the new band -- and it's been starting to pay off progressively faster as we move along among oceania, the re-issues, the lucky13, the new tour, and everything else..... but I heard the the possibility of a new exciting smashing pumpkins in stitch in time.

A close runner-up has been the amount of official releasees since the band re-formed. There's been If All Goes Wrong -- and how many full length official release concerts are there? Not many. Then there's Superchrist, FOL, the two teargarden releases, the killer killer re-issues, the free songs on SPRC, and the upcoming oceania. What other late '80's-'90's era band is releasing new material at this rate? I can't think of one that's even in the same ballpark. It's actually rather impressive.

My own personal thing is the rehearsal version of rocket on the second siamese re-issue disc. I'm a huge rocket fan(and always have been), and this is the best officially released version I've heard hands down... it just sounds so... critical.... so crucial.

And just for the record -- i do truly love the re-issues.

Thank you, you're right what other 1980-1990s that only has one original member is still releasing music that is good and fresh. It's a miracle that this band is still great in studio and live stage. My favorite releases are The Rose March, Sunkissed, 99 Floors, Promise Me As Rome Burns, Song For A Son, Freak U.S.A., Gossamer, and Superchrist. You could mix those up and make a damned good album.

Damn I didn't know that Jimmy had a heart attack, concerns me quite a bit in two regards. One in the fact that Jimmy's health has deteriorated and one in that I didn't know of it for 3 years :eek

As for the actual thread which I have been meaning to post in:

The High's:
-20th Anniversary Songs

-The Residency and If All Goes Wrong

-A Song For A Son Studio Version

-Jimmy's dominance in United States

-Superchrist and Gossamer

-The First Half of Zeitgeist

-Oceania and everything surrounding it

-The original premise of the Teargarden project

-My first time listening to the Pumpkins and becoming a huge fan as well as obtaining the main studio albums.

And the Low's:
-No studio version of Residency Songs or several others played in recent history, especially As Rome Burns :upset

-The Second Half of Zeitgeist

-Wall Of Billy

-The downward spiral of the Teargarden project

-The hate the studio version of Owata got (Come on, it isn't that bad)

-Not seeing the Pumpkins live....yet..

Jimmy ain't gonna die any time soon, my grandfather had five heart attacks, the first one when he was only thirty-five, and he lived to be eighty-seven."

Yeah, Owata ain't half as bad as people act like it is, I had to get used to it, now I really dig it, and Mike's drumming is great on that track. It took me a long time to get used to 1979 too. Of course "Owata (Live 2008)", was one of the the best song SP has ever made.

I dunno, the live version of Owata was alright but the studio version still hasn't grown on me.
