Upon my 6th listen and after all the initial excitement has eased, I can definitely say that I'm so so happy with this album! I think the songs that were played on the 2011 tour sound great, especially Pinwheels and My Love Is Winter!

What pleased me most about this album is that it doesn't have an obvious weak point for me. I don't see The Chimera, Glissandra and Inkless as filler as some have suggested. I think they give the album a much needed shift in mood after powerhouses like Oceania and Pale Horse.

It's great to see that the album is being so well received (generally) across the SP community!

Apparently The Celestials is being touted as a single also!

Nice review Sika and I mostly concur. Bums me out that more don't like Glissandra. It is one of my two favorites and it is the whiny riff more than anything that I love about it. To me it is similar but superior to The Chimera IMO.

One Diamond One Heart would be only a 7 for me but, as someone else pointed out, in the context of the flow of the album it is perhaps the most important and shines.

HU reports that Canadian radios have been playing Celestials and calling it a single.

Who's disappointed? I've been under the impression the community response has been overwhelmingly positive. I've only read 5 bad opinions vs dozens and dozens of high ones.

I stumbled across a download which claims to be a proper CD rip.
Of course I have not listened but do you want the link?

I'd like to hear it. I'm buying the vinyl and the CD, might as well get some mp3s as a placeholder in the meantime.

Finishing my 9th listen, looking forward to the 10th. I can't get enough of this album :D

I think it's pretty good quality, it could be just me but I feel like there is some background noise. Like this was ripped off the stream. But it could just be me.

I'm not a hundred percent sure that's a cd rip, but pretty pretty sure. It is slightly better than the best recording I have :)

Upon a brief skim of this rip it seems much better than my stream rip.

Where is Ghostchild? I'm very curious to his first impressions. PistolPete was kind of a shock, but if 1D1H and Pale Horse were "No"s for him, I can totally understand why the record didn't connect.

Outside Quasar and the start of a couple of other tracks, I've only heard it 3 times, and not the cd rip quality. For comparison on that just listen to the start of my love is winter back to back. Definitely improvement.

I actually don't plan to listen to Oceania again until the weekend. I'm going to have my beach moment with it, and I think I will appreciate it more this way now I know the songs, which kept getting better on the previous listen. The boost in quality will only favor that outlook.

Hopefully after that, or perhaps a few subsequent listens, I will be ready for a track by track review :)

Good, so I will keep this as the emergency rip if I fail in getting the album on monday :)

Your review is very touching and thougtful Sika, I wonder how long it took you to write it down.
It is the best and most hyping thing I have red about Oceania so far and makes me wish even more that it was monday already.
If this beast beats Adore, Billy must be back on the track after all these years.
I will even start to write a little "up to Oceania's release diary" in my blog which starts tonight. That's how you inspired me.

Wow Don, just wow. That means a whole lot to me, you have no idea how flattered I am. I really hope your find lots of goodness in the new tracks, if not Pumpkins. :billy :mikey :nicole :jeff

Wildflower is a grower, for sure. I really love it now. And is it just me, or does anyone think that Inkless is actually a descendant of Lonely Is The Name? Also, Nicole's bass line in Panopticon is the best and most independent bass line since Not Worth Asking in my humble opinion.

Quick post as i havent seen this mentioned anywhere. On the oceania cruise last night! A short set was played with some major suprises:

Jesus is the Sun (acoustic)
Luna (electric)
The Ride of Spring (never before played. Written at the same time as Owata)
Bleed (!!!!!!) (with Jeff)
Tonight Reprise/Tonight Tonight

This wasnt a full band performance, just Billy except on Bleed. Strange theres no Oceania tracks that were played!
