I feel i must apologose for my local tongue/mind haha. When i said "as if!", i meant as in, as if thats well good! Its how we speak in my local dump hole haha. Anyway, they look great. I had a fealing they would be card sleaves rather than jewel cases. They look great. Cant wait to get my hands on one tomorrow. Especially the vinyl copy

You're welcome :)
I was just rather pissed finding out that they wouldn't give me one yesterday and that not even my pumpkins.net mates would believe me.
Yes, card sleaves are so much more beautiful than jewel cases - but maybe it's an "German Reich's From Der Führer Exclusive Thing" and all the yanks have to be careful with their jewl cases :D :D :D

I'm having my second listen to Oceania now. I really can't get past the awful lyrics to Quasar. Really ruins a good piece of music. Probably the Pumpkins' 2nd worst lyrics after Astral Planes.
What on earth is he singing?

"Jesus on his whitest horse,
dawn of day set Mary's grace,
a rainbow road of the lord's force,
made me feel love 'n this place" ???

You're actually not that far off, only his lyrics keep it much more simple. I don't know if you want me to actually tell you, or wait for the surprise :p

Re: June 19 = Oceania. 11 months 3 days ago #113941

I enjoyed it even more on 2nd listen, as I expected to. Apart from Quasar which I went from being unsure about to being sure I don't like it. But at least it gets the worst part over with first... :p

So... the lyrics start:

God, right on!
Krishna, right on!

Followed by a lot more "Right on" (although it could be "ride on", not that it makes much difference.

Then it has stuff like:
"Yes, I understand
Yes, I know thy will"

Just a load of old crap, really. Not that I like to insult other peoples' lyrics, when they might have put their heart into it... so I'll take that back and just say that it's not my thing ;)

Yeah Krishna FTW!!! :D
Then again maybe it fits in with the psychedelic concept mentioning all this crap...

Ignoring the lyrics, Quasar is a monster of an opener and a great metally-Pumpkins assault!

Thanks for the pics Don! Can't wait to get my copy in the mail! :)
You're obliged to pretend respect for people and institutions you think absurd. You live attached in a cowardly fashion to moral and social conventions you despise, condemn, and know lack all foundation. It is that permanent contradiction between your ideas and desires and all the dead formalities...

The music is great, yeah, but lyrics that bad can't be ignored :p I mean, it's not like it's just a few lines, it's all the way through the song :dead

Mine is in the mail too, but it was only sent yesterday so I don't think I'll get it till Tuesday :(

I've ordered a new CD player which should be here on Tuesday - so if I'm lucky my first listen to the Oceania CD will be on my new CD player :) I still need to order new speakers though, so it will be with my old ones connected.

I didn't even care about the lyrics to Quasar. They're sort of cool in a weird, chanty sort of way. They'd be fun to scream out of a car window down a highway :p

So I've been keeping track on and off about Oceania.

For those of us who have similar music taste, is it worth it to drag my ass out of bed and obtain a copy or no not really?

Granted I am a huge Pumpkins fan still, but as of lately I haven't been paying attention-the Teargarden 44 concept really threw me off.

I really don't get the Quasar disgust. But then again, I've never really understood Pumpkins fans' great opposition to use of repetition in the lyrics. It can be a good device, and I think Quasar uses it well. Very mantra-ey.

So DON's trhu Oceania for the first time.
My impression is an overly positive one but I won't give away too much - there will be a long in depth blog about it and of course heavy discussion in Murder's new song title threads! :)

After about 25 listens (lol) the songs which have grown on me the most are Inkless, Glissandra, and Wildflower. Really love this album more with every listen. Not a bad song on it. Think Billy might be onto something here after all. :billy
