Has slowly become perhaps my favorite track on the album. Has the most old-Pumpkins feel to it. Even Billy said he almost left it OFF the album because it was TOO Siamese Dreamish.

The SP1 feel was something I picked up on right away too. Of the back section of the album this is my favorite.

That seems like a foolish way of thinking. The band come from somewhere, SD is in the bands past, it makes/made them who they are. Why ignore your roots? Billy is always running from SP1, why not just embrace it? If he wants to get away from the original band so much, just start a new band.

Yes, that quote from Billy irritated me too. It's as if he is deathly afraid of having anyone think he is trying to emulate the past. This song is fantastic IMO and to think he nearly left it off the album due to his personal neurosis sort of pisses me off. What other great songs have fallen prey to this idiocy.

Not to comment on Inkless specifically, but I can understand the argument that it might sound too much like an earlier album. It just means that that ground has been covered and it doesn't add anything original to the new work.

Personally, I still feel Chimera, Glissandra and Inkless are significantly weaker than all other songs on the album. Still early days of course, but I'm thinking it would have been stronger if they had been left off. Or at least spread them out more. Oceania / Pale Horse / Wildflower would have made a better finish.

It is hard to run away from a sound. Most artists have a "specific sound". There is nothing wrong with that. Billy has a certain sound that most people will always be able to recognize. It doesn't take away from the original work at all, it is just who he is as artist.

I see where you are coming from. While Glissandra, Inkless, and Wildflower have become 3 of my top 5 TRACKS, I do feel Glissandra and Inkless (and Chimera) don't fit the flow of the album. Perhaps I should say I struggle to view it in such a way as to make it flow, as obviously Billy saw it as flowing. Great tracks though.

Possibly the catchiest song on the album. Fucking love it right now! If Billy writes a song and it fits with the album he's making, he shouldn't be afraid to include just because he's afraid of sounding slightly like his older self. All the fucking critics have made BC hypersensitive to this kind of shit. (Well actually, BC has always been very picky about how the Pumpkins are recieved and thought of)

^It is pretty damn great! Possibly the catchiest guitar riff SP have written in a while.

I think Wildflower needs some more sunlight or something because Inkless is growing for me as well, unlike the former. ;) (not to say Wildflower is bad, it's just a bit underwhelming)

Re: Inkless 10 months 2 weeks ago #114728

I really like this song. I dunno, the guitar tone just sounds really nice and well blended with the music, and not to mention it has a lot of tones from the SD/MCIS era (Honestly I had completely convinced myself that the intro to this song had already been featured in Pistichio Medley or Billy's Gravity Demos). The whole album is pretty damn good, at first I didn't think I'd like it but Oceania has grew on me. However I will say I think One Diamond, One Heart while being not only the most "hahahahaha Billy Corgan TOTALLY wrote that song title" song on the album, I also think it could just as easily been a Chris Brown song, at least for the beginning electronic part, not to diss Billy, lol. That and My Love is Winter are my least favorite on the album, but other than that, good!

I like this one. It's another that hasn't really "gripped me violently", but it's still a nice, solid rock song. I think I've only listened to it 3 times at this point. I am not really sure what to say about it other than what I've already said here. I like it, I think it's a good song, but it hasn't really stood out to me compared to what else is on the album.

Really? To me, this tune stands out as probably the most catchy (right next to MLIW) song this album's got to offer.

I guess you could say it's catchy, but most of the time I don't really go for 'catchy' songs I guess :P I go for "POW! hit right in the gut" impressive songs. Don't get me wrong though, I do like this one a lot!

Initially, this was my favourite of the rock trio of The Chimera, Glissandra and Inkless. I suppose it still is, but whereas the other two improved slightly with more listens, this one didn't. It is catchy, it's kind of rocking, at least compared to most of this album, but I feel it's just lacking something. Oh, I do like the lyrics though.

If BC could've got an emotional relay in this song like the one in Pale Horse this song would be FUCKING ACE! Right now it's just ace in my opinion. Not quite fucking ace. ;)
