The badass drumms kicking in at the second half are the most awesome thing I have heard in a long time.

Yes! Some of the best drumming on the album are in this song.

It is funny, because even listening to Zeitgeist the other day, I was thinking, even though this isn't the Pumpkins best work, Jimmy's drumming is still KILLLLER. This song fills some of that void.

I love Mike and I'm fine with his place in SP, I still miss Jimmy. I hate to bring this us up..but...as much as we all seem to love Oceania as is, imagine Jimmy on drums. :eek

If only you guys came into music from a folk background, where drums or any percussion are rarely used. You would have a far easier time letting Jimmy go, I surmise. :D When everybody was freaking out and panicking when Jimmy's departure was first announced, I was asking myself "What's the big deal?"

This song is pretty good, although the first part is probably the lowest point on the album, up to the third "dreams I've had" area. The vocals tripping out and the drums fading in was an excellent unique touch for a Pumpkins song.

I've said this before, but the barely-in-tune guitar in the second half of the song is my favourite bit. It gives it that nice alternative rock edge. Other than that, it doesn't grab me like most SP "epics" but I do still enjoy it.

^ The strangest thing about this song, is that it is the only Pumpkins epic that isn't even in the top half songs of an album for me, let alone top 3 like all the others are.

But who knows, that might change. I didn't understand or appreciate Silverfuck or In My Body for the longest time.

If I didn't know better I'd suggest they had Thurst Moore as a guest on this. :D

Haha this is funny :D

It felt a lot more epic live. Its still great. But its lacking slightly. And i hate the "and still shes gone" part. Well cheesy. It gets better does this song though and i still really enjoy it

Honestly, this song feels a little forced. As if BC is making an epic because every Pumpkins album "has" to have one. It's an enjoyable song though. Live version is much better.

I really enjoy the jam section at the end and the dynamic makeup of this song as a whole. I said in an earlier thread that I was really hoping for something that contrasted the really soft and really hard the way SP used to do so well in the past (a la porcelina). This is as close as they get to that with this album. I dig it.

I couldn't agree.
To me it feels like a legit epic without any bullshit.
It's a trip, no chorus/verse/chorus thing, that's why it gave up the classic chorus in favour of a trippy whole I guess.
I like experiments like that and I adore the odd and crazy acoustic mid-section which came as unexpected as it could.

@Don: It's definitely an epic but most of the time, for me anyway, Pumpkins epics are some of, if not the best, tracks on the album. I love the whole scope of the song and the fact that it's like a journey, but for me it just isn't one of the highlights so far.

This song is a fantastic journey and its final part has a touching beauty.

The first part reminds me of The Cure.

Although it reminds me mostly of Bloodflowers by The Cure, which was from 2000. But yeah, I was also thinking this is the closest SP have come to sounding like PT as well :)
