I've always felt like Starz kills all the momentum of the tracks before it which were the best off the album besides United States, and if they had just led into United States, then it would have been a great little section of a decent album, the first 5 still are. It just could have been better if Starz was missing.
Anyway on to the actual premise of this topic, Violet Rays. The first time that I listened to Oceania on I-tunes I wasn't expecting much and when it started I was just blown away by the raw emotion and power of the song. It was my big surprise of the album, it was the only amazing song I hadn't already heard. From the title I didn't know what to think really about it, but afterwords I was just simply amazed by the song. I don't know if this song or Pale Horse is my favorite, but it's a very close running. Billy gives an excellent vocal and really great lyrics that I just love. The rest of the instrumentation is excellent and only only add to the great vibe of the song. I think it deserves to go down as a great Pumpkins classic, but like some others have said I think this song will end up as a fan favorite as well. But any recognition this song gets I think is well deserved.
