What do you think Smashing Pumpkins, will do next? Do you think they will release another album or release songs one at a time like before?

What would you like to see Smashing Pumpkins do?

They should keep releasing quality albums as often as they can to make forget the hole from 2000 to 2012.
TBK song by song is bullshit, I'd rather prefer something like Oceania II / The Friends And Enemies Of Modern SP .

Yeah, they have to finish Teargarden, so you're probably looking at at least 2 more new songs for the Vol. 3 including Lightning Strikes and Owata. They mentioned something like a double album, which would definitely be a great way to finish Teargarden, but for continuity I think the final Teargarden release should be an old school 4 track E.P.

I hope once the Teargarden phase is over they can delve into darker territory, and perhaps expand upon the new styles exhibited in the Oceania songs such as Violet Rays.

Whatever happens, I hope they continue to raise the bar.

A double album would be great, I really want that to happen. We've already had 23 Teargarden songs (if you count Oceania) so that only leaves 21 to go, which might not be enough for a SP double album, unless BC starts focusing on longer songs.

I have to admit, as much as I love Oceania, I can't think of anything that would be more exciting that SP returning to darker / heavier material... I really can't see that happening though. So more high quality semi-psychedelic pop rock will do.

Stripped-down SP like Adore would be my choice to be honest.
But I can't see that happen with Billy having a fully-shaped rock abnd back.

Also, darker and heavier material would be great. I think with the reception Oceania has recieved, BC might just decide to keep going the album route for TGbK. Or at least we can hope. Maybe he can release a few songs on their own and make them singles. Pump us up for the album.

It also would be cool if SP was a little more experimental in their next album. Or expand on the sad-synths sound, that would be cool.

Yeah, I really don't want it to go back to singles or EPs. Albums all the way!

If anything, I'm looking forward to the next three reissues the most!

I'll give Billy a pass if we don't hear anything from him for the next few months though, since they came out with Oceania and Pisces just recently

Does anyone think we'll ever get another heavy SP album? You know, a real rocker? I want one, but to be honest, I doubt it'll happen. I know Billy has shown he could still do it with songs like As Rome Burns, but I think that moment might have passed

Gish was rather heavy.
And MCIS featured their hardest tracks.
I'm glad if there are some hard songs thrown in the next album, espcially if they do a double, like there were on MCIS.
And if it becomes again a smoother album like Oceania, then let it be consistently calm (like Adore) and leave out the slightly overdone pop cheese which spoilt some parts of Oceania where it wasn't necessary.

MCIS had some of their heaviest stuff, but about half of that album is mellow.

If we got an album where about half of it was as heavy as the heavy MCIS stuff, I'd be delighted

Course, what SP used to do really well, was not just mix heavy songs and soft songs, but have songs that could flow naturally between soft and heavy parts and back and forth. Not sure we'll see much of that again...

Well, I would like heavy stuff on the next album as well, but only if BC feels he can do it and feels he has reason to. If he has to force it, it will be shit.
