I personally love the Zeitgeist album artwork. I didn't like it from what I saw in the stolen pictures but in the context of the album I thought it looked really good. What did everyone else think?

i also think it's really cool. i walked down the street to my newbury comics this morning, expecting to just get the standard edition of teh zeit only to find that they had about 20 of the special edition sitting on the rack, so i decided i had to grab one. i'm happy i didn't have a car to go to best buy (where i usually buy my cds) for that reason, and also because "death from above" is quite bad and i don't really care about it. but yeah, considering i was hearing about alot of places putting the SE on hold for people, i was surprised to find so many up for grabs.

I picked up the special edition of zeitgeist today and the cd itself was blue and had a six-sided star on it (star of david?) and listed the tracks on a ring around the edge. i was wondering if the different versions of zeitgeist had different looking actual cds, and figured that they probably would be somewhat different seeing as there would be additional tracks to list on a couple of them. anyone know anything or get a version different from the SE?

Who got the Zeitgeist book? I want it so bad.

i got it and i'd say it's worth the extra few bucks just to say that you have it, but overall it's nothing special. it's all just a bunch of artfully done pictures, much like the ones int he standard booklet from what i've heard, but alot of them are put on partially transparent paper so the page behind them shows through to make a cool look. several pages are also "windows" or "tv screens" on top of the page after them so that you only see parts of the next page's image. the majority of the pages are also just one-sided, but yeah the artwork is cool.


the one thing i noticed that i thought was really funny, and this is probably true for the standard booklet too, is that in the section where BC and JC thank "all those who have kept the faith" the last person listed is Paris Hilton. i found that even more amusing than her pic being used in the booklet.

The special edition with the booklet is definitely worth it. The artwork is really well done and it's just incredible to look at the symbolism and stuff. I got to best buy about half an hour early and there were people outside waiting anxiously for the doors to open for Zeitgeist. It was great to see that, especially in my town. I was the first person there to buy it though Same with TheFutureEmbrace. We pumpkin fans literally ran into the store, it was funny.

the discs are about the same. the color goes with the version i think. i got the special with the blue disc, and i got the yellow with a yellow disc.
personally, i think the deluxe edition is dumb. i don't want big pictures of paris hilton and flexing wrestlers. but i guess not every band can be as creative as radiohead.

this is probably a stupid question, but was that one of d'arcy's bass guitars in the coffin?

mhm, notice the rats. I dunno if it's ACTUALLY one of hers, but it's definitely supposed to be clear that it's d'arcys.

I bought the yellow Best Buy version this morning. It's pretty.

I haven't got my copy of the book yet cus I pre-ordered it but I've got the HMV exclusive sleeve version with a green cover which is a bit of a waste of time really but oh well...

I really enjoy the artwork. I might be thinking of something else, but, I think some of the pictures that were leaked aren't included on the special edition book. Wasn't there one of Billy with a clock in his hands? Or was that something else?

I don't remember that one. I remember there was one of a guy in a suit on a crucifix which I can't see in the book.

I got the purple Target version (screw you Death from Above ), but I can change the iTunes art to any color I choose 8)

I still haven't gone out to buy it, I've been swimming all day and listening to the iTunes version in and out.

SO NOT WORTH IT. It's like a grown up pop-up book or something. With only two pictures of Billy and Jimmy (I was hoping there'd be rare SP pictures from days of yore but no, just Paris Hilton, random obscured blotchy things, creepy Children of the Corn and the Grim Reaper as president.)

I actually thought the booklet was alright. Some of it was a little cliche, but overall it was good. I would say it worth the extra 8 bucks. some of you have analyzed it more than me so now i;m going to go look at it again.

yeah its a bit like a pop up book. but the photos are very artistic. Still I was expecting allot more for my money and maybe a poem or story or some other text.
Can you really count the reverse side of velum as a seperate page to make up 72 pages....LOL

i got the itunes download which included the booklet. the booklet was kind of a let down. i was hoping for something like machinas booklet or the aeroplane flies high booklet. hell, even the picese typewritten booklet was more appealing than what i saw. but i guess the booklet matches the album. not a very ambitious or creative billy trying to do something all by himself and getting a shallow album in the end. my girlfriend told me the reason for paris hilton was because she is a zeitgeist, a spirit in our age. this i can understand, but some of the symbolism is kind of, dare i say, a bore? machina was fun to try to figure out and idealize with one another on the message boards. it made you feel like you were a part of a greater community. a part of something more than the music itself might not have hinted to.

so, now that billy put out like a hundred variant albums with a song difference between them all (or none at all) you might ask yourself, "how do i obtain all of the songs?". well, you could always download them, but that wouldn't be very supporting. or do what i did. buy it on itunes and get 'steller', grab the single doomsday clock and you get 'death from above', and good luck on getting 'zeitgeist' the song. you'll probably need to purchace the album a second time to get the song. watch billy come out with a holographic covered variant with all these songs and possibly three new songs. this wouldn't be bad, but it's gotta be hurting him in the long run with the production of all these covers/presses and releases.

if he were to put out a great album, he could have possibly sold a good amount of albums. rather than attack the fan and force them to purchace multiple albums in order to fix their obsessive compulsive disorder and get them all.
