I am going to miss the album format so much - I love hearing the filler around the "singles" they are the best tracks imo. If they just put out 3-5 minute pop singles as every new song I will still listen but be highly disappointed. Seriously, what would pumpkin life be like without silverfuck, XYU, United States, GATGC - seems as if they will now rework some cover/turning them into an extended jam and be done with the 10 minute epic pumpkin tune - say it is not so Billy :(

I think they're definately gonna head into the studio in January. I'm hoping they will go with that idea where they release a group of songs at a time, I think that would be pretty cool. I'll miss albums too, but I think Billy has made it clear he doesn't want to do that anymore. :(

Re:NOW WHAT? 4 years 5 months ago #58811

Who says the singles have to be pop-singles? Superchrist was FAR from pop (even though it sucked).

If As Rome Burns gets released, that'll be enough for me.

"We found with “Zeitgeist” that the alternative audience isn’t alternative anymore. They’re a pop audience that listens to Nickelback. So doing a 10-minute song, nobody will listen to it. We have to come up with singles like “1979,” and come up with songs that sound good on the radio. We have to write those kinds of songs. "

The POP-singles idea is Billy's own. He thinks more fans will listen if they just record songs that sound good on the radio "aka pop-songs" - I think he is bonkers if he thinks the true fans only want to hear these. But we will see what comes from the mighty sp in the future - billy has be known to change direction.

I'm really hoping they get their act together and do this whole "blocks of songs leading to a larger release" thing, or words to that effect.

i won't mind there not being an album.

as long as they still make music, i'm fine.

does anybody know what they've been saying about future tours?

Same with me, as long as there is still music coming from Billy and Jimmy, then im satisfied!

As far as future tours, what about those Gish shows that they were talking about doing?

Also, what about the Gish Box-Set? Is that totally out of the question now because of the whole D'arcy and James lawsuit?

You gonna be f***ing kidding, aren't you? This isn't a real Corganquote, is it?
Well this brings up the main problem with Billy Corgan:
The problem is not THAT he is knowing that he IS genious but that he just ISN'T knowing WHEN he is and WHEN NOT!
Tough, it's a lie:
Where are the b-sides to Superchrist...where are the b-sides to GLOW? The Zeitgeist Bonustracks were extraordinary brilliant but will anyone but us, the hardliners, ever get them and listen to what he's really able to creat...so we have the underappreciated 101geist and Billy thinks he has to continue that way?...sorry that's to paradox for me...
Maybe he just got off any ideas...and maybe he's just lazy...and maybe the next album is already finished and it will be Billy's big surprise tomorrow...who knows...
No, seriously: I want albums...has he forgetten what MCIS had for an opera-like flow(as a whole thing) or the magic world of MACHINA???
This is weak...really, really weak and maybe even more disappointing than every SP2thing before...I hoped the blocks of songs idea is just one of Billy's two-weeks-syndroms...on the other hand, one can be happy that Superchrist will never find his way on an album!

Ah yes...and his statement about the necessary of Pumpkins-popsongs is just an insult to me as a fan...NO...I DON'T NEED anymore 3-minutes-rocksongs by the Pumpkins...NO 7th BWBW-ripoff and NO MORE alternate Silverfuck-recording under another name (like United States)...
Dear Mr. Corgan (if you surprisingly will read this):
what I (and many other fans in here and all over the world) expect is...

Firstly: another groundbreaking and honestly emotional album (just like EVERY album before the pumpkins broke)

Secondly: GOOD songs which mean something to you...be experimental...try to go over the 5 minutes mark with a progressive song, once again!!!

Thirdly: No online-release-crap anymore but proper album/b-side collection releases and a BETTER ACCESS to rarities (no more need to buy all rainbowcoloredition of one and the same album)

If you would respect that rules, noone all over the world would ever guess again, that SP2 is just poor cash-in on a dream that used to mean the world to you and us many years ago...

Don, you really captured a lot of what i wanted to say... I am very angry that there won't be any more albums especially with how great pumpkins albums have been (yes, even zeitgeist!). I just get tired of billy bashing a lot of his fans because he feels we don't support him and even though this is a bit depressing, i do still support the pumpkins. I just feel so many emotions at this point....

one final small point.... isn't kinda funny how they were all gung-ho about releasing a gish boxset and then doing a gish tour and now billy goes on to say we are moving forward. We aren't doing what we did here at the 20th anniversary shows again.... ???? i found that kinda funny...

whatev, i'll still support the pumpkins but i was a bit depressed with all of this online distribution shit...

sorry but i have to disagree. im sorry, what would the pumpkins be like without those 15minutes "silverfuck jams" as u like to call them, the 7th bwbw, tell me all 7??
sorry, i just think this is going to be the biggest climax in history. lol, well not the biggest!!

they basically have 1/4 of an album of newly written songs, eg. owata, as rome burns. I do hope they release them as singles, or better yet, on a NEW CD (yes i know) !!

Netphoria has helped me establish the fact that Billy is batshit crazy, because he often says one thing, then two days later says something else that just makes a confusing paradox.

Too many posters say things along the lines of "SP should just do x y and z and everything will be better," like the end of DON's post.

Both sides are guilty, maybe if both Billy and the fans stopped going at each other's throats about... apparently nothing, then we wouldn't have such a tense future to think about for the band.

That was actually one of the bits of DON's post that I agree with. We have United States and SuperChrist that are the equivalent of Silverfuck, as he said, which just don't hold up to their intentions of being a long rocker. It's obvious that he was trying to write another Silverfuck, especially with SuperChrist, which is basically the same thing but half-assed.

Re:NOW WHAT? 4 years 5 months ago #58831

i agree with almost everything..

i would love to see them make more albums, but if they don't as long as they're making music i'm fine and i'm not gonna sit here and bitch about it.

he can do whatever he wants, no matter what he does it's amazing. he is a complete and utter genious.

he's taken so many risks with his music, some risks that no other band could've pulled off. but he pulls everything off flawlessly and i trust him in everything he does.
