:confused

Are Ginger and Josh just touring members, or are they new replacements for James and D'Arcy? I know Billy could do all that stuff on his own, but I was just wondering if anyone knew of his intentions - since he said on "Inside the Zeitgeist" he would be interested in recording with a studio guitarist. Josh would appear to be the perfect candidate for that purpose. Do you think he will do the next album by himself or lighten the load and distribute work among other members?

Also, what is the recording history for the albums? All I know is that he basically recorded Siamese Dream by himself, and then on Mellon Collie James and D'Arcy were able to record their own parts. Is there any other info on the recording backgrounds?

So.....

Does "Josh" = "Jeff?" ; )

In that case, as far as we all know, Jeff and Ginger, as well as Lisa, etc. have only been touring members thus far. It seems that Billy and Jimmy are the driving force behind the current incarnation's recording endeavors as well, and that very well has likely been the case with past albums, excluding, of course, Adore.

As far as Billy and Jimmy have claimed, the two of them did pretty much 97% of the work of any Pumpkins' album. So I'm not so sure about how much Billy would allow Jeff and Ginger to play. That doesn't exclude the possibility of the band as a whole playing together to create ideas, but then having only Jimmy and Billy do the album

Hmm, there's a lot here that could be directed to other topics at this forum...

I've said it enough to go blue in the face, I really just want Jeff and Ginger to record in the studio alongside BC/JC

We don't know...but I think the only album which wasn't an exclusive BC/JC redording is Mellon Collie...so maybe there'll be a Jeff with them in studio if they need him, maybe not.

Re:Questions 4 years 3 months ago #60743

ive heard darcy played bass on every song except one, which i believe was this time, cause billy knew the band was over at that point.

i dont believe that it was 95% BC and JC, because now we know the band is BC+JC and i can hear a difference between them and the old band, and its clear that JI and DW had some influence on the sound of the band

i think its unfair for BC to say that james and darcy were not contributors to the band

yeah, i think its fair to say that :billy &:jimmy did most of it, but not that :darcy &:james contributed nothing. they certainly did on some level however small.

There was that bit on IAGW when a dude who interviewed the band in the SD era said that he asked James and D'arcy a "simple question" which was "how much do you contribute?" and they said basically that it was mostly Billy and Jimmy who were doing the work. But then again, that was SD era, and when Flood came along, he wanted them to rehearse together all the time so they could make some more jammy four-piece-band-centric songs.

Kerry Brown, Darcy's ex husband. He's in the "G.L.O.W." video too.

Yeah, I think so too, it mostly was them, but I can't imagine Billy or James playin' drums;) ;) ;) ...and I guess, D'arcy used to play her bassline aswell...

Sorry, I'm always thinking about Reel Time Sessions when I'm talking about the pre-Gish era...before Jimmy came along, it's post-The Marked for me (I think, Ron Roesing actually used to play on the Nothing ever changes tape);) ...but you're welcome:) , one can discuss the many changes from '87-'91 without an end...

Wikipedia says that James said that the soloing work was about half-and-half between him and Billy.
