I was just wondering which song my fellow Ghost Children treat as the ''LAST'' song of the SP1 era?
Is it:
Age Of Innocence - Machina

Here's To The Atom Bomb - Machina II

Untitled - Last single and also Rotten Apples

Blissed and Gone - Judas O

I personally choose Here's to the Atom Bomb because it has more of a goodbye feel to it, but im just curious to know what you think....

I still hold on to Age Of Innocence, because of the lyrics near the end...

"desolation yes
hesitation no
as you might have sensed
we won't make it home...

before the rites of spring
come to mean all things
a little taste of what may come
a meer glimpse of what has gone

cause for the moment we are free
we seek to bind our release
too young to die, too rich to care
too fucked to swear that i was there..."

To me that message is just so strong!

It's definitely not Blissed and Gone. That was recorded during Adore. It's hard to say..

Possibly Untitled, Billy himself has said it was "sort of a see-ya song"

I think Untitled was their last release...but Age of Innocence would be my choice...the song is unbelievable and the lyrics are more than strong...they've become my favorite lyrics over the years...

"To young to die
to rich to keep
to fucked to swear that I was there!"

It says so much about life to me...

I love Age of Innocence, it may be my favorite Smashing Pumpkins song of all time, but I think the last song may come down to which one was actually recorded last.

I think "I Want You (She's So Heavy)" was the last song recorded by The Beatles. Who knows about SP's last recorded song.

i'm pretty sure untitled would be that song... age of innocence should've been the last single

Not to be a prick but I though it was too rich to care.

Untitled was their last studio session before the hiatus. Recorded a week or two before the final shows. Age of Innocence was recorded in November 1999. A year before Untitled.

I thought this was going to be about the song called "The Last Song".

Untitled was the last release by SP1, so I suppose that was their last song from that era. And a pretty weak goodbye it was too. Glad they didn't continue in that style, as Billy said they would've been doing if they hadn't split at that point.

What was the last song they played live before their hiatus? Maybe they would've chosen that to symbolise their "goodbye song", regardless of when it was written.
Was it Silverfuck?

So did I, when I first opened this thread, I had the song stuck in my head for ages. Pretty groovy.

Yeah, but...

I believe you are correct, to an extent, but I believe the last song they played goes something like this

Space jam

Silverfuck

Wow, not fond of Untitled? I mean, to each their own, I guess, but that's one of my favorites!

Oh, and has anyone else found similarities in Untitled to SP2, such as American Gothic, etc?

It sounds like Billy was headed in that direction, and that, to me, SP2 seemed to pick up where he would have gone anyway.

(This should really be a whole new topic, but oh well.) ;)

I love the solos in Untitled. The production value and mix is a foreshadowing of what SP's done since.

To me it just sounded like cheesy, catchy pop-rock. Probably something people should listen to whilst having group hug therapy and drawing pictures of daisies on each others buttocks. Or whatever it is overly optimistic people get up to in their spare time.

But like you say, songs hit each person in a different way.

No, not at all, to be honest. Sounds nothing like Zeitgeist or American Gothic to me.
