The best thing about it all: 40, yes 40(!) new songs are to come now and ALL for free :yay

Is anyone with me that Astral Planes should have been the intro?

Well I think Billy's lyrics always were a mirror of his mood and the man feels very happy today, so what else is there to write about then "la, la, la, I'm so happy!"?
I'm already awaiting Billy's coverversion of this :D :

If the Teargarden output stays that alright but medicore, I'll pick the highlights and compile my own double album after everything was released.

Do you even know what a filler song is? If you don't like it, it doesn't necessarily mean it's filler.

Well, it does really, a filler track's just a matter of opinion.

I think you might be right in saying that Astral Planes would've worked better as an intro - the bland repetitiveness of it would've seemed more at place like that... but maybe also cut down to under 3 minutes... Even so, as a slightly heavier song, I hope it will at least serve as a transition to a really heavy 5th song.

Absolutley agreed with you, epitome!
Cut down to (I'd say even) 2 minutes it would have been a perfect intro to Teargarden!
And don't worry...we'll surley see a heavy rocker soon...we've seen pretty much everything than melancholic songs from SP since 2007 :sigh

Was talking about that with someone just a couple of days actually.

I think their segue bits work very well on Lateralus and 10,000 Days. Sure, they aren't things you'd want to listen to by themselves, but they work well as part of the album. And I don't often pick out random songs to listen to anyway, I like to listen to good albums that flow well and have some impact.

Aenima does suffer from a few crap tracks though - some of the talky ones and "Ions"... not sure what they were thinking with those.

I still don't think they are necessary. After all of the "segues" and "interludes" 10,00 Days only had like 5 real songs.

That's a pretty big exaggeration. And the album was 75 minutes long, so the segues made up a small part of that. And they worked well, in my opinion. That album was a little over-produced, but other than that I like it a lot.

Don't forget about "Die Eier von Satan" it's German and means "Satan's balls"...but lyrics are actually about a baking recipe...it's even more weired if you understand it :yay
