I think he tagged the song as "Explicit" because this version has to be differentiated from the "Clean" version that I assume was sent out to radio stations today.

As with most of the Teargarden songs, it's far from bad, but it's not something that's going to be in regular rotation on anybody's Ipod...at least I don't think so. They're starting to get the right sound at least, which is good. Song for a Son should have been the best song on any EP, but they majorly screwed up the production. Billy may not be writing the best songs, but at least the last three have all sounded right. I think that this is a step in the right direction.

It's "explicit" because of the part where he sings "I'm so fucking bored!"

Man, how can an SP fan not dig this song? If anyone was waiting for a return to form, I don't think they could ask for much more!

I think this song is fucking incredible, it's more than I ever imagined it could be. I always liked Freak, but it was my least favorite of the SITS tunes, until now at least!

The world needs music like this with all the crazy bullshit that's happening every day!

I read the comments on here before I listened to it, and they had me a bit worried - I got the impression it would be a flower power pop song that sounded like Zwan.

So, it was a nice surprise when I played it and liked it. It is a bit flower powery, but not in a bad way, and it doesn't remind me of Zwan at all. It's a hell of a lot better than Astral Planes, and I like the crunchy distortion in it. Song For A Son is still my favourite so far, but this a decent start to the second EP.

I prefer the Spirits in the Sky version.

My favorite so far, I really like it. And yeah, the "fuck" really stood out because the explicit tag had me listening for it, haha

I downloaded the song: there was a .zip file and inside it there were the Freak_(Explicit).mp3 file of the song and a folder called _MACOX in which there was the ,_Freak_(Explicit).mp3 file (note the different name).
Does it happened also to you?

I noticed that happened when I tried using the site, but I downloaded it from the link on here, which gave me no problems.

i wasn't sure what to expect. it was pretty decent and it actually has lyrics. i have only listened to it a couple of times so far but not bad. and i'm glad he isn't doing songs for circus animals. the solstice bare sounds pretty cool actually for an EP title.

I'm liking this song quite a bit. I was expecting more of the Spirits In The Sky type recording, with lighter guitars and a bit faster, but I think I'll be listening to this quite a bit. I have high hopes for the next EP. They seem to be giving a lot of their previous songs the TBK treatment. Like Owata at the Viper Room, had the same tone as Freak.

After listening to this a hell of a lot of times I take back what I said before. Although the production is a bit iffy I love this song. Best thing he's released recently by an incredible long shot.
