So the SP's MTV World Stage Mexico show is meant to be broadcast tonight, on all these MTV channels. I even saw an advert for it a couple of days ago, showing them playing Tonight, Tonight. What I want to know is, in the UK, why the FUCK this has suddenly been replaced with a fucking MUSE MTV World Stage show? This has seriously pissed me off, especially considering I SAW a bloody advert for the SP one, two nights ago. Where the hell has it gone? I searched later into the week too, and found nothing. What the fuck.

But anyway, this thread should also serve a greater purpose for those of you who will get to watch it.

It's a well known fact that Billy is hated in the UK.

Yeah, nobody here cares about the Smashing Pumpkins.

Still disgustingly irritating that they removed the show so suddenly and without stated reason or whatever.

Around the time of Zeitgeist's release, Zane Lowe said on his TV show that Billy wasn't taking any interviews because he ''couldn't find his way out of his own ass''.

Also, when Rock AM Ring 2007 was being aired on MTV, they played all the headliners sets EXCEPT for The Smashing Pumpkins. Same with BBC during the Reading/Leeds festival.

Yeah, I don't like Zane Lowe, heh. And the BBC thing really irritated me. They showed hardly anything on the TV, and only had like 4 songs from the SP set up on the website. They showed more from bands lower on the bill, and had been flogging the friday night Razorlight set to death, showing the entire thing.

GAH WHAT THE FUCK?!??! I PUT MTV ON JUST IN CASE, THE WOMAN SAID "SMASHING PUMPKINS COMING UP," AND I GOT EXCITED, AND NOW THEY'RE SHOWING FUCKING MUSE!!! AAAARRRGHHHH!!!!

I apologize to anyone who likes Muse but; I don't see or hear what's so exciting about them. I tried getting into them but it just did not work.

Muse are quite good (though the newest album sounded pretty boring), but they're certainly no SP!

Growing up, I never met anyone here in the UK who liked SP. A few didn't mind them, most seemed to hate them. So I never got to go and see them live, as I had no one to go with

Hi i'm from Mexico and i had the great oportunity to be in the smashing pumpkins mtv world stage, and i also tape it on september the 17th when mtv aired here in mexico, soon i will add the video here very soon, i dont know why mtv did not put the great perfomances of Astral Planes and United States, but its great!!!

Why is Billy/SP hated in the UK?

I don't know if he's specifically hated, but I don't think SP were ever as huge here as in some other countries.

SP in the UK are pretty much known as either "that band who did that song where they were on the moon" or "that band where their in the ice cream truck" usually

on the bright side at least they are demonstrating some vague knowledge of their music videos. usually the SP are just that band that sings those "greatest day" and "world is a vampire" songs.

They're "The band with that bald-headed frontman that appeared on Pink Floyd's PULSE DVD" here in Germany.

SP have sort of a cult following in Ireland, but in the UK it seems like they could just never click.

I have never met anyone who liked the Smashing Pumpkins. Or even knew who they were. Not to say that I meet lots of people. Once someone said "that bald 40 year-old guy?" I think.

None of my friends like SP, in fact, no one in my whole school likes SP! So you can imagine the strange looks i get whilst drawing the Pumpkins heart on my books!
