I read somewhere they think this might be the first song from the Machina Double. Sort of like a Mellon Collie intro.
And with Full Band reprise as one of the last songs on disc 2

Hmm, interesting. I don't know if I see it as intro though, even after reading that. Maybe polished up a bit, I guess it would work.

I do like the idea of the last song on a double album connecting with the first song from it, like the music in Farewell echoing the MCIS intro.

Another option for Machina would be to have Le Deux Machina as the intro and Glass & The Ghost Children as the last song.

I'm not sure I can see either of those being right though.

It's much better than the full band version, but it still feels incomplete. The best part is the piano. The lyrics are rather poor. It would have been interesting to hear this as a Mellon Colliesque instrumental.
