But this is just too much. There is just no way that Pisces, awesome as it is, is better than Siamese Dream. SD is more or less a perfect album. I will stand by this!
If you think so, I don't mind that.

To me, the tunes on SD are very well written but the production is just too much.
Too far over top.
Pisces has more honest and artistical feeling to me.
SP sound like a gen-x rockband to me on it.
Not like a guy who forces himself to sound perfect in a studio.
Maybe it would have helped to record the SD tunes in a more living way to get this album over PI in my ranking.
This way, it will remain my least favourite of all original SP releases.
(and I've explained that a thousand times before - you do not have to act that appalled every time)

I've heard over produced before, but SD is not it... it's just WELL produced. one of the best produced albums I've ever heard. Listen to the CRUNCH man. Music doesn't need to be under-produced to be "artistical". If it fits the music, it works.

Besides that, what makes SD perfect is the tracks. Production doesn't matter as much as the music itself. PI music isn't bad, but SD fits together so well. Every song has it's place and it's reason for being there, and it works.

I remember seeing Smashing Pumpkins concert shirts everywhere that said "ALTITUDE NOT ATTITUDE" -- which obviously reminds me of this song. Just as I think there's nothing wrong with liking songs that are dripping with emotional heaviness and weight, I think there's nothing wrong with liking the straight ahead rock songs of Tristessa-Jellybelly-Pissant. No it's not houses of the holy, but neither was Dazed and Confused. I gleefully don't hide my 9 from the world!

I've always liked the one-two punch of Pissant and Hello Kitty Kat. The louder you play them the better they get :D 7.0

PI vs SD..Hm...I listen to PI (and like it) more than I do SD, but I will acknowledge SD is a better crafted, better produced album. The thing is, I always found the highlights of Pisces to be better than those of SD. For me, nothing on Siamese Dream compares to the angst captured in Hello Kitty Kat or Frail and Bedazzled, or the simple acoustic feels of Whir and Soothe, or the mellowness in Spaced, Obscured and La Dolly Vita. And Starla? Not even Soma compares to Starla. Siamese Dream is this perfect, meticulously crafted, pristinely produced piece of work. But Pisces offers more varied songwriting, better melodies, and sometimes, just better songs. Siamese Dream sounded way too bloated and forced sometimes as well. Pisces is a more natural approach, and these songs actually sound like a band playing. It's a collection of gems that didn't fit with Corgan's vision of the first two albums, but they came together to make an album that ebbs and flows and is my favorite TSP work. :)

As for Pissant, it gets an 8.7 :D

I have the feeling a lot of people will be rating this song high.
But personally it's a bit difficult to get into. The production is a little poor, and the guitars a little mundane.
I don't mind the chorus though.

I have to admit, when I first got PI, this song didn't really stand-out or appeal all that much to me. I much preferred Pissant and following on from that HKK seemed a bit weak to me. But it grew on me over the years and it has that fuzzy psychedelic sound that I really miss from SP.

You're obliged to pretend respect for people and institutions you think absurd. You live attached in a cowardly fashion to moral and social conventions you despise, condemn, and know lack all foundation. It is that permanent contradiction between your ideas and desires and all the dead formalities...
