I think it sounds more like The future Embrace than The Smashing Pumpkins but in any case it still a good song. We can expect the new music to sound more The Future Embrace than The Smashing Pumpkins because with Jimmy Chamberlain, James Iha, Darcy Wretzky, and Melissa Auf Der Maur gone the sound of the band is not the same. I'm not saying I don't like the new songs from Teargarden By Kaleidescope, I'm not saying I don't think Billy Corgan has the right to use the name The Smashing Pumpkins, but I am saying that this is very different from Gish, Siamese Dream, pisces iscariot, Melancholy And The Infinite Sadness,The Airplane Flies High B-Side Box Set, Adore, Machina / The Machines Of God, MachinaII / The Friends And Enemies Of Modern Music.

Pretty much yeah, I'd say it's a "fun" song. Don't know where those stadium Guns' N Roses synths came from though. And God, it's so nice to hear some feminine backup vocals again...

Hater's gonna hate... I love this. Great song, this is going to be the best EP yet.

I love the instruments in this song - it's great to see some loud psychedelic guitars and some decent drumming from Matt. The vocals aren't bad either. Someone said it sounds like Zeitgeist, I say not a chance. Someone said it's like The Fellowship (except not as good) - to that I agree.

The major flaw with this song is the absence of a strong, likable chorus.
As the chorus begins it barely scrapes on what would make me rock out, reflect, shed a tear - before stumbling into a muddled segment of 'off' music.
Everyone has tried to do a great job here, and the song is certainly no filler, but ultimately this song is a failure because Corgan selected the wrong key
(Key = Angle, edge, degree, standpoint)

It almost reminds me of some of the Sequels in film = Same cast, characters, production and quality of dialogue -
But the magic of the story is no longer there.

Why don't we put this song in relation to what we were getting around the end of 2008 when billy built up the hype around the now anthemic F.O.L or G.L.O.W . I think we have moved on a long way since then at least.

You're right - those aren't very good songs at all

I'm not a hundred percent sure (only 2 listens to Lightning) but I think our new song topples those turkeys

Well ome guy was offering a download last night so i got it then , im pretty sure the link was further up this thread ,

and i try to deny all knowledge of either F.O.L OR G.LO.W . i put it down to billy experimenting with meth or something .

I actually need both FOL and GLOW, thy both disappeared from my library over time... can anyone PM me?

yeah i like GLOW too, altho between the three of them (GLOW, FOL, and Superchrist) Superchrist wins by a mile.

anyways, back to Lightning Strikes, its up on the site now but it won't seem to download for me... i might be doing something wrong, but windows media player just keeps coming up. i don't know what i'm doing different from when i got the other songs!

Having just listened to Lightning Strikes a few times now (and a couple of times yesterday), I'd say that, overall, it's my favourite TGBK song so far. Technically, I'd say Song For A Son is better, but it's spoiled a bit by poor production and lack of emotion in the studio recording.

So, Lightning Strikes, very good song, in my opinion. I'd still prefer Teargarden to get cancelled and a proper album to be recorded, but if not, this has at least got me more interested in the current music again

ahh much thanks epitome. for some reason that link wasn't working for me last night, but oh well.

i don't know if teargarden should get cancelled, but i do think it'd work better if the songs were released in batches, if not a whole album. it's the waiting that really kills it for me, and to get rewarded with just one song, however good it is... there just has to be a better way.

I agree that there is a lack of emotion in, not only this song, but in all of Teargarden. Don't get me wrong I enjoy listening to Teargarden, i just think it could be better. I think that if this was an album I do not think that the songs would flow together well.
