ok, ive lately been considering painting one of my two guitars. i have a red washburn N-1 and a black fender highway one stratocaster HSS. i dont wanna just paint it all one color. im not sure exactly what i want to make it look like, but ive been thinking something along the lines of one of billy's guitars from the gish-siamesedream-MCIS eras (like the blue one with the stars). i have no experience in painting guitars whatsoever, and i was wondering if anyone has any advice.. like run-throughs on the basic guitar painting process, what kind of paint to use, what kind of design to paint, or anything else like that. it would be much appreciated!

I am thinking about getting "Honk If you hate people too" powder coated onto it, but im not realy into painting on designs.

If you wanna go psychedelic, Jimi Hendrix used nail polish to paint his guitars sometimes. I'm sure it'd give a nice SP vibe as well.

I never really considered painting my guitars, but I wanted to know how it was done anyway so I found this site:

thanks for the link. but im wondering, would it be bad to just paint over the current coat? i dont really want to take the time to sand off the whole current coat. i might even just not paint the whole thing, leaving the origianl black showing in certain spots. i dunno

Just airbrush on the sholder is what i would do.
