Halo

I didn't used to like this one much, but it makes a great finale to a live set and the live performances have won me over.

Halo
A bit too common but it makes a good live track.

5. Arriving Somewhere But Not Here

Deadwing's masterpiece. Easily in the top 3 PT songs.

Arriving Somewhere But Not Here

Good and beautiful until the Rammstein chords appear...those don't belong into it and almost kill the song.

You know I've never heard of Porcupine Tree prior to joining this forum and have never heard of them outside of it either. That said, I decided to finally try them out tonight and I must say that I'm quite impressed with what I've heard so far. I've tried What Happens Now, Chloroform, and Arriving Somewhere, But Not Here and I'm very pleased with those. I'm definitely going to have to check more of their stuff out now!

Get Lightbulb Sun, Deadwing, and Fear of a Blank Planet. You'll be doomed hooked like us ;)

Beautiful and well constructed yet similar to former songs.

Mellotron Scratch

Not something I really listen to on its own, but I love how it works on the album.

7. Open Car

Took a while for this to grow on me. Definitely a highlight for the album.

Open Car

There's a really good sense of ominous fate in this one.

Open Car

Yes, finally SW got the point that a simple rocksong must be a simple verse/chorus thing without any overdone bullshit and that is why this works and Shallow failed.
Maybe a bit undercrafted since we still listen to PT and not Deftones but that's the point I guess. It's a live classic for sure.

Start of Something Beautiful

The name says it.
Almost on par with PT's most ambitious works and the best track on Deadwing fore sure.
100% modern prog rock with intelligent shifts, changes and arrangements all the time, beautiful lyrics and great melodies.
A good song to introduce someone to PT.

Glass Arm Shattering

We've heard it before in Stop Swimming, still pretty beautiful but maybe Half-Light wold have been better.
