Do you like to read? What books have you read lately? What book are you reading now? Where they any good?

Currently reading A Clockwork Universe and a a history of the Russian Revolution called A People's Tragedy, both for AP World History. The latter is super super long, but interesting.

In fiction, I read the book The Forest of Hands and Teeth, which was entertaining.

The last bit of fiction I read was "2666" by Roberto Bolano.

It was a long and incredible piece of work. One of those real achievements. It covers so much ground, but for my part, when all was said and done, it was a story (or rather set of stories) that charted a history of violence: it referenced Vlad Tepes during an overnight stay in a Romanian castle during WW2; the Aztecs and the Spanish invaders of the South Americas; the murder and oppression of Stalinist Russia; the Nazi's and the Holocaust and death during WWII; and finally (the book's main subject) depicting the murder of hundreds of women in Santa Teresa (real life Ciudad Juarez, Mexico) from 1993 and continuing today, and the still on-going corruption and investigation taking place there.

I just finished reading Keith Richards autobiography Life. It was really good.

Every like 20 pages or so he runs into the law. It's amazing.

Getting ready to re-read the vampire chronicles by Anne Rice. Largely because awhile ago she has officially left the catholic church because "she felt like she was in bed with the devil," and she has her first paranormal-based book in years coming out on February 14 of this year, titled the Wolf Gift.

Apology, Crito, Euthyphro, Republic, Phaedo. Meno is next. Euthyphro is easily my favorite...

Wow. You've read quite a few. An achievement in itself. I've read most of the Republic. The one about justice, or morality in general.

Sounds cool. Been meaning to read more S King.

My favourite book is a novel called "Blood Meridian" by Cormac McCarthy. It's the most impressive thing I've ever read. It's like a violent gothic Western. Completely without pity. But the most impressive thing about the novel is the writing itself. I'm constantly coming back to it just to read passages from it because the writing and language is so good. I've read the damn thing about 7 times now.

I read The Road by Cormac McCarthy, which was quite good (much better than the movie).

Rising Sun by Michael Crichton because it's the most accurate picture of the world we live in I believe. It focuses on the US/Japan business dynamic in the 80's but it's applicable to the current domination of corporations. I think people underestimate the role of corporations in terms who they are and where they are in life.

Nice. The Road is a wonderful book but very much a minor McCarthy book (despite the Pulitzer). His books written in the 70's & 80's like "Suttree" and "Blood Meridian" are far and away his greatest stuff.

Thanks, I might give those a try one day.

Yeah Cujos a good short read if you're in the mood for some King.
