Kind of, yeah.
I don't want to say it's because I've been blasting music with headphones since I was 12 years old, but it could be. But often times I can't hear people properly. I think a lot of people I know mumble their words too, whereas I speak two other languages where you have to open your mouth to annunciate and pronounce the words properly.

At work, for example, there's a lobby with a HUGE echo so I can't hear things properly because it echoes all over the place and I sound like a fucking idiot going, "What? Pardon? I'm sorry? Excuse me, what was that?" It's a little embarrassing and annoying at the same time.

Yeah, unless you're listening to music. Then you can just bask in it.

this ^^

i don't like to think about it, but my hearing has become a little more crap over the years. i notice i have to turn the tv up louder and have a harder time hearing people, especially if they are talking quieter. i'm pretty sure its a headphones thing. ever since i got my first cd player i have had headphones glued to my head. as a kid i always listened to my music with headphones, because it took away the possibility of my mom giving me crap for what i was listening to because she wouldn't be able to hear it. now i will be deaf when i'm old for it and damn you ipod as well. i've also been noticing lately that my hearing has been weirder, but i think its the extreme heat we've been having. its messing my head up.

sometimes i do think about this though. when i'm old i might not be able to hear music, because of my blasting it for years in my youth. its depressing. :sigh

I often find it hard to hear when there's a certain background noise. Low frequency noises do it. Even if they aren't that loud. Like the hum of a fridge or some kind of engine rumbling away... when there are noises like that I find it hard to make out what people are saying - I presume this is a bit weird, as if there are multiple people there it only seems to bother me.

Other than that, I hope my hearing's alright. I think it is. If I went deaf I might as well jump off a tall building.

i think i have tinnitus in my right ear. never been diagnosed with it, but say for example, ive got my earphones in, i sometimes have to turn it off after a short while because my ear begins to crackle. its not painful as such, but its a very big annoyance. even more so when it happens at gigs. and i dont really like ear plugs. they work, but it sounds shit!

The bad thing is that now I can't hear well some sounds (the difference between before and now is killing me), I have to find an equalizer for the PC to amplify the high frequencies for my left ear...

You guys gotta stop blasting Pumpkins tunes! :p

My hearing is alright I think. (At least at my current age of 17, could be a whole different case when I'm 50!)
I agree with Epitome, not tons of reasons to live if wasn't able to hear.

My eyesight is shit though. Complete shit.

My initial loss (in 2005) was due to chemotherapy, this new loss .... nobody knows for certain, but it happened after I listened Oceania the first time :dead :upset :sigh
I will never forget that day.

Oceania ruined your hearing?

I felt that something happened after it. The tinnitus (that I already had) increased. Then I discovered that my left ear was worse than before.
It's hard to say if that was the sole cause.

Yikes. I had tinnitus for a period about 10 years ago. Fortunately it went away on its own, but man it's annoying. Every time I would yawn it's like there was a bell in my ear

I once had tinnitus for three days after a gig. I was worried that it was going to be permanent, but thankfully it went again. I should start wearing earplugs to gigs, I think, especially ones in small venues which seem to be the loudest.

Tinnitus is like having an alien that always screams in your head.

Don't worry, technology will be good enough by then to give us better hearing aids, besides we'll reach that age when we think all new music sucks and we'll just listen to 90s alternative rock (by then labeled as "classic alternative rock") constantly. And we'll be singing along in our heads since we've memorized everything, so we'll be fine. :p

You know, sometimes I feel that the sound of water (coming from the shower or the sink) helps my ears after a really loud show.

haha, true. we will hate everything and cling to our 90's oldies and our space age hearing aides. :D

also, is it just me, or can anyone else make their ears ring on command? it's been that way my whole life, just kinda think about it and they ring. that's the easy part.. getting it to stop is a bitch.
