I am really into The Smiths right now. What's your favorite album? What are some of your favorite songs? What do ya think of Morrissey's solo career? What do ya think of Morrissey?

Ah, The Smiths. That fine combination of Johnny Marr's jangly guitars and Morrissey's one-man self-pity party. I love how they sometimes sound like the background theme music to some laid back, low-budget TV program from the 80's :p

My favorite albums are Meat is Murder, The Queen Is Dead, and the Louder Than Bombs compilation. Some of my favorite songs are This Charming Man, I Want the One I Can't Have, That Joke Isn't Funny Anymore, I Know It's Over, There is a Light That Never Goes Out, and Bigmouth Strikes Again

I've listened to a couple of Morrissey's solo records but I never got into them much. And from what little I know of him, he sounds like a grumbling over-serious twat. But I really like his video games

My favorite Smiths album is Meat is Murder and my favorite Smiths' song is "How Soon Is Now".

I've never checked out Morriseys solo career, is it any good? Also, I've only really checked out a few Smiths albums, so I should probably explore their discography more fully as well.

They only have 4 studio albums and a handful of compilations. You should definitely dig a little deeper KJ. And Morrissey definitely has some solid solo albums.

I'm not use of my favourite album, but it's probably their self-titled.

D'oh! Now I feel stupid. I believe the other one I listened to was their S/T. I remember liking it slightly more than the Queen Is Dead. I'll definitely have to relisten and check out their other stuff though.

So what are some of the better Morrissey solo albums? The only ones I've listened to are Viva Hate and Ringleader of the Tormentors. One was kind of "eh," but had a few good songs, and the other was kind of "bleh" and had maybe one or two good songs

I haven't listened to much solo Morrissey, but from what I've heard I think Viva Hate and Your Arsenal are his best. You Are The Quarry has some songs I like a lot too.

Re: Smiths 8 months 3 weeks ago #115867

So apparently Morrissey canceled his last show out here last minute (like two hours before it started, and he previously did that two years prior) out here in the Bay Area which prompted our alternate rock station (who only fucking plays How Soon Is Now) to put out what they called a "New Rock Emergency" much like the emergency broadcast announcements stating that "MORRISSEY HATES THE BAY AREA. WE REPEAT, MORRISSEY HATES THE BAY AREA-HE HAS CANCELED LAST MINUTE JUST LIKE HE DID TWO YEARS AGO. WE REPEAT, THE MORRISSEY SHOW IN OAKLAND HAS BEEN CANCELED BECAUSE HE HATES THE BAY AREA."

Apparently the radio station was so pissed that he canceled that they asked a British buddy of theirs to record (in his best Morrissey voice) a few lines:

”Hello, this is Morrissey. Yes, I still hate the Bay Area. Did you really think I was going to play tonight?”

“Hello, Bay Area. This is Morrissey. Regrettably, I need to cancel my show tonight because, well, quite frankly, I’m old, I’m losing my hair, I haven’t eaten meat or gotten laid in decades.”

”Hello, this is Morrissey. I just decided to cancel my show tonight at the Fox because of all these bloody annoying Occupy Oakland protestors in front of the theater. How dare they interfere with my greatness?”

I don't think he's shown up since...or ever has plans to.

Whaaaaaaattt?

That's insane, the radio station comes off as bigger douchebag's than Morrissey. They out-douched Moz.

Wow, thats quite an occurence. Well at least he didn't keep the crowd waiting in anticipation for an hour or so and then walk on stage drunk as fuck like a certain Axl Rose would do, haha!

Wonder why he really cancelled though? Maybe he does hate the Bay Area? ;)

Who knows why he did cancel. He's done it before out here so I guess that's why they were so pissed.
But he literally canceled a few hours before he was supposed to go on. Not sure if people were lined up outside the venue when they found out it was canceled, but knowing it was in Oakland, they probably did.

When something like that happens, they usually do, but imagine if Morrissey told them specifically not to, just to be a douche. :D

That sounds like Morrissey. Hahaha.

I know that Depeche Mode canceled a show out here and no one was refunded at first because they were planning on returning to do the show, a while later they refunded everyone.
