Anyone see The Office last night? Steve Carrell left. Parks and Rec. was fantastic as well.
All hail Thursday Night Comedy on NBC!
I know it is stupid, but it really makes me sad that Steve left The Office, I am about to watch last nights episode. I love Park and Recreation too..as well as 30 Rock..

I personally think him leaving should have brought with it the end of the show. I know there is a huge cast of characters, but in some ways The Office "is" Michael. I'm worried about how it will continue.

I don't think they need to keep people interested, people are going to want to see what happens with the show no matter what. They're just making a big event even bigger.
I love Jim Carrey, but I don't know that he's the right type of humor for the show. I don't really care for Ray Ramono that much.
I would LOVE for Will Arnett to replace Michael Scott. Never mind Arrested Development (one of the best comedies ever), he was a hilarious CEO on 30 Rock.
maybe they should spin off the series and take it in a different direction so it can be its own thing without steve carell??? just a thought. I stopped watching the show a couple seasons ago....it got boring. Plus Im not a big steve carell fan.

As funny as he is/was on 30 Rock, I can't picture him replacing Michael Scott.
If I recall, I thought I read that Holly would be making guest appearances during the next season of The Office, but I don't remember where I read that.

I hear ya, I actually thought the series kind of jumped the shark after Jim and Pam's wedding, it's like what's the point now?
I do think the writers will manage to keep it interesting, at least for a while, but yeah, Michael was pretty much the spirit of the show...

In general, I kinda see the whole idea of "replacing" the character with another big name who is gonna be wacky and crazy like he was...kinda cheap. Again, I think the show should end here.
Michael "is" The Office; if there wasn't a Michael, there wouldn't have been a show...it's like the documentary (in the TV show's fictional world) is about him. Like the British version was about David Brent.
I love Arrested Development and 30 Rock, and I would hope that if Will Arnett gets the job, he is able to distance himself from his 30 Rock character. I could imagine that being a bit difficult. I'm not sure about Ricky Gervais getting the job...I don't think he will, and while it could be funny, I dunno...it might seem a bit much, him having ended the UK Office years ago.
Whatever happens, they bloody better bring Michael back for the final episode of the show. And I hope the series doesn't just go downhill from here, and fade away. I feel really strongly about it because it's one of my favourite shows (even when it's not hilarious it's still enjoyable), and Michael is one of my absolute favourite TV characters.

For a show that's been (arguably) fairly consistently funny for this long, just have some faith in the rest of the cast and the writers. I don't even think Michael Scott is the funniest character. I find Jim/Dwight antics way more enjoyable(the end of the garage sale episode with the magic beans was priceless), and I love rooting for Andy.

I can have some faith, but...Michael...
Seeing as we're on the subject of comedy shows:
My dad's friend's girlfriend works at Universal, and so last month I got seasons 1-4 of 30 Rock on DVD for free. I'm about two thirds through season 3 at the moment, and I love it. The jokes come in a really snappy, quick-fire manner, so it never really drags. I think Jack is my favourite character, but everyone's funny. This bit made me laugh SO MUCH:
I have seen about three episodes of Community online. It was hilarious. I really wish they'd bring it out on DVD here (I hate watching shows in bad quality on my computer), as it's considerably more expensive to import it from the US. But that's what I'm gonna do soon.
Aaaand Parks and Recreation - I watched most of the first season, but it didn't hook me in enough to seek out the rest. I've heard absolutely everywhere that it got MUCH better in its second season though - for those that watch, how much better does it get?
