Re: Currently Thinking... 11 months 4 weeks ago #114041

I've applied everywhere and so far nothing, not even one single interview.

So in my spare time I'm going to watch Star Trek: The Next Generation.

I took another listen to Zeitgeist - the songwriting is there, man. I swear if the production was better and Billy rerecorded the lifeless vocals, that album would be an easy 8 or 9.

I would give Zeit a strong 8 and if the vocals and production were better then I'm sure it'd be a 9. It does lack a little "magic" (for want of a better word), which I'd say Oceania has, but it's still a string of great rock songs - especially on the Silver version.

I'd give Zeit a strong 2...on a random scale compared to other albums by different bands...on the SP scale it would be maybe -8 :D

...another day and no interviews.

They should really hire me, I'm like a Honda-low maintenance and hard working.

Tried watching Donnie Darko a second time... this move is really one of the most overrated pieces of mediocre garbage I have ever seen. People have been telling me for years how deep and complex this film is, I was expecting a Memento or Inception caliber movie. Instead it's a horribly filmed and poorly written movie with a major plot hole that would make the whole sequence of events impossible. It isn't interesting, there is no character development that is meaningful, Jake Gyllenhal sucks ass. Man, I hate this movie. Worst cult film I have seen.

I think Donnie Darko is a great film. I didn't get it too much the first time around, but after that I've always found it enjoyable. There's some really nice music in there, and I love the adolescence vs adulthood dynamic, 80s background, rebellion and philosophy. Great cast too.

Now if you want to talk about shit movies, how about director Richard Kelly's follow ups Southland and The Box. Now there's some fucking shit.

Well it's getting close to 10:30, I should go to bed soon. Got a big day of...doing nothing tomorrow.

Or I could stay up watching Robot Chicken.

How did you find out that he couldn't get his stream working? Did he blog about it or something?

@Ryon: I have!!! It's very good actually. Her lyrics are fucking top notch! Most of the album is about love and it's all set to great accoustic instrumentation. I've only listened to it twice but I enjoy it so far.

Can someone inform me how to submit a blog on this new site? :sigh I tried clicking the "BLOG" on the upper right but when I hit save, it says file submitted, but the file does not appear on the site. What am I doing wrong? You must know, right Don?

For some reason (maybe this is a American convention) you learn history as the River Valley civilizations such as Mesopotamia and the Indus, then you move onto Egypt and Greece, then on to the Classic Roman Empire, then skip about a thousand years into Medieval England and France, then to the Italian rennaisance.

Why skip over the Byzantine Empire? I didn't learn a single thing about it, and here I discover it lasted for over a thousand years. I know nothing of its art, literature, figures, politics... I feel robbed. I've been out of high school for years and I just now discover there was a massive millennia spanning empire in Eastern Europe, far more advanced than the backwards rabble of the west. What else don't I know?

Currently Thinking: Fuck you, U.S. education system.

You're right Sik, they never taught me jackshit about the Byzantine Empire throughout elementary or high school.

Damn, the blogs I tried to do got their formatting fucked up when I uploaded them. I guess in pertinence to blogging I liked the old site better.

God it was so hot when I was working yesterday I had sweat dripping from my buttcheeks down my legs! :p
