i smoke a pack a day and i would love to quit but its to damn hard i tried to quit yesterday and lasted about 4 or 5 hours,so today i went and bought a carton of marlboro and a carton of newports..maybe i can try the patch again.any ideas?or do enjoy smoking?

i wouldnt know. i cant stand the smell, i grew up with a family of smokers. i dont know how they quit either ... well you can always search on the web.

1979 i would love for you to slap me around even though im not into that but i will try anything once.i should slap myself really,they say its more addictive then cocaine or heroine..never messed with drugs to much but i really honestly tried i did the patch,the gum,and zyban,when i went to a.a.c.c. [community college]they offered free hypnotism i was like no...i switch from non menthol to menthol...i hate the smell,the stained teeth,the money going up in smoke and my health...it is americas number one killer..i wonder if jimmy chamberlin still smokes..i know he used to during veuiphoria when billy told him to stop his drums and said do the drums like this and jimmy sat down his cigareete,i know aaron lewis of staind still smokes..but i hate smoking i really hate it...i even tried praying and put a list of the reasons i wanna quit in my bathroom to remind me..your roght that did not work either..

cashcarstar. . sorry i can't help with that. . I have seriously never smoked a single cigarette in my life. I do know a few people who have quit smoking and it was horrible for the first couple of weeks, but once they got over the hump, the thought of cigarettes made them sick.

i cant imagine how addicting it must be.... i never had a cigarette in my life either.


but i hope you find a way to quit, cashcar, dont give up....

thanks pumpkin princess's im going to try again within a week to quit for good.i need to even though i smoke now it makes me sick thinking about smoking,im actually selling the carton of newports today leaves me 8 packs of marlboro 27's..if i quit and i will i shhould say i know i will be alot happier..thanks again my friends..LOL

I smoked for two years, quit cold-turkey, started again 4 months later, smoked for about another two years then quit for good.
I am still a social smoker . Like if I'm out drinking or something I'll have some cigarettes but thats about it.
The second time I quit I did it gradually. I was smoking half a pack a day, so everyday I said okay I'm only going to have 8 today. Then the next day, only 7, then next day 6, etc, etc until I was down to none.
It is a very hard habit to quit. When I went cold turkey only the first three days were really bad. Buy lots of gum, and candy. Every time you want a cigarette, pop in a piece of gum or eat a piece of candy.
Hang in there, I know its tough!

Marlboro are the best cigarettes, I don't smoke much, like 3 a day at school, but if I go out drinking or whatever I smoke more, a friend has just given up smoking and she's finding it quite good after the first few days.

i suggest smoking ciggarettes half way then outing them. then when you want another one you just finish that cigaret. then pretty soon a whole cigarete will be way too much, then youll only smoke like one cigaret a day. then quitting will be easier. thats what i did

I started quitting 4 days ago, I had one yesterday lunch though, and one after work last night, apart from that I'm doing... okay.

I've chosen to still smoke pot though, coz I don't wanna give that up, but it's not like I do it often so it's okay.

If you are saying I smoke pot because I think it's cool, then you're damn right in one sense, I love the feeling it gives you, but I don't think it makes me look cool or anything, that's complete bull$hit, I hate it when people say something like that.

Anyway back on topic, I had a bad night last night, went to a gig and had 2 cigarettes, I suppose that's not that bad but since I'm supposed to be going cold turkey it is.

Smoking to me is really just something to do when I'm drinking, more than anything. If I drink alot, I smoke alot of cigarettes, but not necessarily because I like the feeling, or the taste of them. It seems like I just like the smoking. And if I do it enough, I kinda start to crave them when I'm not drinking, etc etc.
When I smoke pot, I actually enjoy it and realize why I smoke it. Yet I don't crave it, or feel an addiction to it.
And no, I have no delusions of looking cool when I smoke either of them.
