I really like them but my shitty Province is musically challenged and you can never find good CD's. But last thursday I was on the computer and my sister was watching the OC and i heard a song of theirs on their. I was horrified. Now all the trendy hipsters will flock to them  |

I have only heard one song. It's the one with the video where they're in a club the light is tinted red and there's some girl that keeps on looking over at a boy in the other side of the room at the end they walk away in love. It was a great song, and I'm considering getting their album. But I'm a little disturbed. If that guy is singing...he sounds like a chick. ._.
Is it the bassist???

I really like them but I'm pretty sure it's just "Silversun Pickups" not "The Silversun Pickups". Anyway I really liked the album and stuff. I got it for christmas... I think it was from the HMV at west ed. It's hard to find CDs like this in Edmonton.

I like them quite a bit too. Its strange that you posted this, just the other day I heard someone compare them to The Smashing Pumpkins but I personally don't see the similarities. Then again all I have heard from them is Carnavas.

I see the similarities. The singer has a nasal, high pitched voice, their guitar tones are very similar, and they tend to have melodic similarities as well.
I personally don't see how someone could hear "Well thought out twinkles" and not think of gish, or "Lazy Eye" and not think of Siamese Dream... Or "Future Foe Scenarios" and not think of Machina.

I've been into this band for a while now. They were actually recomended by the smashing pumpkins on their myspace a few months back. They strike me as a sort of cross between the pumpkins and my bloody valentine; but maybe thats just me. They only have one proper album (Carnavas) and an EP, but they're gonna be big!

I don't think they're gonna be big. Soon the buzz surrounding them will fade and no one will care anymore. Example being the Arcade Fire a few years ago.

SP Used to be known as just Smashing Pumpkins, then their later albums were titled The Smashing Pumpkins, The is just a way of measuring how succesful you are.

The song they remind me of is "Drown," witht the guitar tone and melody, but other than not really too alike for me. But still a nifty band.

but they seem alright
have you seen their performance on letterman? the end of lazy eye was pretty sweet
i might have to go pick up a new cd.....
