I listened to Machina last night. Always been my least favourite SP album, never really been able to get into it, but somehow I think it clicked last night and I actually enjoyed it more than ever before.

Maybe it's because my default thought when I think SP is to think heavy-ish rock, like MCIS and SD. Adore was so different I didn't compare it to those albums, but Machina starts with Everlasting Gaze, which isn't too far away from stuff on MCIS and perhaps that gets me ready to rock... and then the album, for the most part, turns into a more distorted but mellow doodad.
But listening late last night, I was wanting to chill out before bed and I guess I really got into the right vibe.

Anyway, it got me wishing even more that Billy would reveal the TRUE Machina tracklist, for the double album he wanted it to be... Let's start a petition!

Oh My god. i was just coming in here to say how much ive been enjoying machina...

i had a free period in school today, no work, so i put on machina, just on a whim...and i loved it, more than i had ever liked it before.

the chorus of heavy metal machine is amazing, with the synth pads in the background adding the much needed texture...same with pretty much every song on that album..the synths on it are...glorious..

thats really cool that someone else picked up on it at pretty much the same time as me

Yeah, I always felt really disappointed with it before - I really wanted to like it, but just couldn't really get into it.

Listening to it again right now actually, and have Machina II lined up right after that. Might be the closest I get to the true Machina, but I'm hoping one day Billy will spill the beans on how he really wanted it.

I feel bad now for all the times I've been negative about Machina!

Yeah, I love Machina. It really sucked me in, although listening to it all in one go is exhausting! But I did it like 500 times freshmen year of college. My favorites are the first four songs, Wound and Age of Innocence

Funny you should mention The Cure. In my clarity of "getting" Machina, I was thinking it's actually a great "atmospheric" album, reminding me slightly of Disintegration.

i never pickued up on any cure SP similarities...cure and marked similarities were there though

I'm loving all of this praise of MACHINA! Maybe a few years down the line, there will be praise for Zeitgeist.

There were definite comparisons between The Cure and The Marked, not so much between SP and The Cure though..

I'm already praising Zeitgiest. Now that I've found love for Machina as well, I've pretty much turned into one of those "I love everything SP have ever done" kind of people. Damn. I still don't like TFE or Zwan though :P

I'm not saying Machina sounds exactly like The Cure (and certainly no other SP album sounds anything like The Cure), but the atmospheric style of Machina reminds me a bit of the atmospheric style Disintegration. Might just be me then.
