I'm in college..... to be a photographer. If my music doesn't plan out then I hope to become a photo journalist for a music magazine.

I went to college, or university as some of you might say. I got a double bachelors degree in Accounting and Financial Investments. Graduated and got a job with an oil and gas company. I'm thinking about going back to school for my masters and/or work on my CPA.

I'm a sophomore in college right now with a major in political science and a minor in history. I'd like to get a job in D.C. woring with a senator or congressman or something. It would be sweet to work on a campaign. I wish I could just be in a band the rest of my life, though...

Wow, music, oil, and politics! Sounds like the current state of affairs in this country!

I'm in community college currently, working on my Associate of the Arts degree. When I started working a couple years ago, I literally had $0.00 for college, and FAFSA certainly didn't give me one penny... I'm no interested in paying student loans for the rest of my life, but I'd like to travel. I'm thinking of looking into Peace Corps.

Or, of course, become a rock star and make millions doing what I love.

Whichever comes first, I suppose!

i'm in college right now. i'm majoring in Art and History and minoring in Literary Studies. i plan on going to design school after though. i would like to be a fashion designer.

i'm graduating this year and planning on opening a few businesses, becoming an entrepreneur basically... sucks though since the U.S. is in tough economic times and doesn't look to get an better

I went to a small liberal arts college and got a double bachelor's in communications (focus on broadcasting) and spanish. Did quite a bit of work with the campus radio station and interned outise the college at a network radio company and a TV station. Went to work in TV for a few months right after graduation to get a foot in the door then moved over to radio and have been here since.

went straight to college and became a cognitive psychology major. i'm now a second year. hopefully i'll graduate on time. *crosses fingers*

oh, and it's so great to see so many educated people on this site. hahaha.

I'm not educated. I'm not even sure if I've graduated or not.

You know what, do you think Jesus or Buddha cared about formal education? They did everything themselves, man.

Did you know that he nearly failed his high school mathematics classes?

When I was growing up, my mom used to say, "I don't care what you boys (my brothers and I) do, as long as you do your best. If you want to be a garbage man, just be the best damned garbage man there is!"

And you know what? My brother is a window washer, and he's totally happy, and making comparable money to that of my other brother who is "educated" an working for a newspaper. They are both happy and content.

I think the paradigm in this country is that if you're not "educated" you're not worth anything, and I think that's nothing but bullshit.

I'm only going to college so I can find a way to travel. I've always thought that education was a big joke!

So just "do what you wanna do / say what you wanna / and start today! Yeah, start today..."

But yeah, let's just assume it still applies. I think it's a world wide epidemic these days anyway.

EasternMind - I see what you're saying, but education is what you make it (generally). Do you think if "higher education" were more affordable and more efficient, would you have a different perspective? (And don't get me wrong, I definitely agree that college is not for everyone - I mean, I did my four years and I vow not to return. All this "the master's degree is the new bachelor's degree" seems very condescending, as if I should wipe my 4.0 bachelors of arts/journalism with my arse. I refuse to believe my efforts were all for naught just because of some growing elitism. And, definitely, to be educated does not necessarily mean you're smart, either. Look at Bush!)

So anyway, I did the college thing, attended on scholarship and generally liked the experience, but I think I'm one of the few people my age (25) who actually really enjoys being in "the real world." I found a job I adore (first, for two years as an editor at a newspaper group; and now as an editor for a company that produces comic strips, opinion pieces, advice columns, etc; and as a writer for some midlevel music mags).
