According to Wiki:
The unused material features, among others, both parts of "Voyage 34" and an instrumental called "Cryogenics", which was written especially to feature on the album but ultimately dropped as the band felt it wasn't good enough. Although essentially a live record, "Coma Divine" features studio overdubs of the vocals, as the original takes were too poor both in terms of performance and the quality of recording.

So makes sense they would overdub some bits to make up for recording quality - surprised it was poor performance though, as SW's live vocals are usually very good.
I wonder what that Cryogenics instrumental was like...

:( Live vocals usually work better than studio ones.
I'm still pissed. What's the crack of live albums anyway if you re-do something in the studio?
But yes, that instrumental also caught my attention.

Well, I do agree, but if the vocals were recorded all crackly and full of noise or something then I can understand why they would re-do them. Especially with it being something people would be paying money for. But yeah, generally I do agree that live albums should be left fully live.

I managed to get my hands on Bowness/Chilvers "California, Norfolk" via eBay today :yay .
I paid €27 which is fair I guess.
Now let's just hope it's no bootleg...at least, according to his ratings, the seller hasn't sold such yet.
On the other hand, I don't think it's worth it to sell counterfeit Bowness CDs with the few listeners out there.

I'm not sure I could bring myself to pay that much for one standard CD, although I know they're hard to get. Maybe one day, if I run out of other things to buy, I'll pay over-the-odds for the Bowness discography 8-)

I know it's too much, no matter how I defend it ;) .
In this special case, it's worth it because this particular album is part of my top 10 albums of all time.

Man, this is the week of Bowness.
I just got an original CD of Barbieri/Bowness "Flame" :) :) :)
I'm just back from a night record exchange and I probably spent several hundred Euros in less than one hour.
This asshole really felt that I was hot on the Bowness album and he wanted me to pay €50 claiming that it was a deleted release (which is true).
I managed to get the price down to €37 which is still a robbery but I really couldn't leave without, having put my hands on it :D .
Other gems I bought were Kiss' Dynasty on the original and limited red vinyl for €8 only (the seller didn't know how much it was really worth, I guess), Gentlemen Take Polraoids by Japan (Barbieri, again) which is nothing that rare but a new romantic classic I've been searching a long time on vinyl and Pussy Galore's Groovy Hate Fuck, on one of 2,000 released vinyls (!) for €30 only.
(Just as an explaination: The market for records has somewhat split in Germany in the last two decades.
The one side is the stores, mainly big electronic stores, selling albums and compilations that are well-known and famous and just few of the artists besides - it's even hard to track a SP recording in most stores.
For that reason, record exchanges became larger and more popular, the more the stores refused selling a variety.
This is the place for the real lovers to go.
Now these days, there's an exchange almost every month somewhere near my place but I force myself not to visit them too often ;) )

OK, this is the last post in a row, I promise.
The California, Norfolk already arrived (don't ask me how the did that) and it's legit as far as I can tell :) :
The disc has the same code kind of thing on the back than my other Burning Shed albums, it looks a tiny bit used and it has a very light smell of smoke if you go very close to the booklet - but it's really slight.
And the case has minor scratches on the very surface.

Now the only Bowness albums missing in my collection are World Of Bright Futures (what a title) and Henry Fool and I see little chance for both...

Fuck, it always puts me in heartfelt anger when I see a brilliant poet like Tim Bowness dwelling in unknownness and not the appreciation he deserves :upset
He must be the most underrated artist of our days.

Edit:
I just ordered my ticket for No-Man on August 28th :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)

Yeah, weird that he is so under-appreciated despite so much talent... and very annoying as I can't get most of his stuff!

Tim Bowness on the The Interesting Alternative Show

Tim will be interviewed on the The Interesting Alternative Show on Phoenix Radio on Monday, 6th August, 10pm GMT.

Tim will be discussing No-Man, Burning Shed and more with 'Interesting' Steve Davis and Kavus Torabi (Cardiacs, Knifeworld). He will also be playing some of his favourite songs and some of his own work (potentially including an unreleased exclusive).

The show can be listened to live via www.phoenixfm.com/listen-live/ and subsequently downloaded via www.phoenixfm.com/listen-live/

Don't suppose anyone fancies recording that - especially the possible unreleased song. I'm going to try and remember to listen to it myself, in which case I'll record it too.

Ah, they put a download to the show anyway, if you're interested:

Don't think I'll bother, to be honest.

You can view another preview from Steven's forthcoming "Get All You Deserve" live DVD/Blu-Ray on musician's website Music Radar now. This time it's the new 12 minute piece "Luminol" which was premiered on the tour, and which will be recorded for the next studio album, due in the Spring.

Cool, new album in the spring!
