PermalinkI loved every single new song I heard, and the old ones they performed better than ever before. It seems as though Billy had another stroke of genius and a huge gust of wind hit his sails, because this is shaping up to be the best alternative/rock album in the last decade.
Thank you to whoever uploaded these. Can't wait till the album drops!0 Like -

PermalinkTapers THRIVE on getting their shows out...if soemone turns it into the far easier accesible mp3 format so be it...if a taper tapes a show he/she/it will let it out...and guess what if they horde it...their loss...someone else will let their recording out.
just enjoy the music.
Tapers can't demand a format.....its music...its to be shared
They need to get over themselves. They didnt write or perform the music...they just recorded it....now let everyone enjoy it .

No mais so caralho esse show. Deram inicio às sessões de bootlegs dos pumokins. E que venham mais! Ave Billy Corgan.

Permalinkthe release it in lossless (flac, shn) so that the quality stays the same for all, always. as soon as you start sharing lower quality versions, it gets hard to keep track, as people miss-label the versions. after a few years it's almost impossible to reliably find a lossless source, and is really frustrating for traders and tapers alike.
there are MANY recordings still being hoarded because of bad trading behaviour, QAOS (siamese demos) just to name one recent hot topic instance.
bottom line is your getting free music completley at the tapers expense. they paid for all the equiptment to record, edit, and distribute so others can enjoy. many do this anonymously so it's not about credit or ego. they suffered a somewhat less enjoyable live experience at the time at the expense of the recording. yes they get the benefits of the recording as well, but so do we, and by doing nothing else than hitting download.
the LEAST you can do to say thanks in return is to respect some very inteligently reasoned, rational, typical trading requests of the taper and of tapers and traders and trading communities everywhere.
bottom line is if you keep the tapers happy, everyone wins, we all get free amazing bootlegs. it's not a hard thing to ask, to keep it in lossless.0 Like -

PermalinkI never understood the stigma behind sharing lossy files. The files will always exsist in lossless for one to find them (and if they're down, simply ask for a reseed). All this website is doing is giving the files in a much smaller, and faster format. I have slow internet, so i dont use torrents... Is it fair that i would otherwise have to miss out (or B P but nobody does that anymore) on a great concert because my computer sucks? All this is doing is giving an alternate version. He isnt asking you to download it, nor is he hurting anyone by hosting these files.

You are right about this being a result of bad trading behavior, but on the part of those who continue to hoard the music, not those who are fans and just want to listen to something. If this is the attitude of many tapers, then many tapers need to grow up a bit0 Like -

PermalinkNo offense meant to those who DO tape shows (especially whoever did this, cause this is awesome); i am just genuinly curious as to what the logic is behind you not wanting the shows to be thrown about in a smaller format.
Aside from being non-degrading, what use are FLAC or SHN files anyway? If the listener wants to do anything useful with them, they must convert them anyway0 Like -

Permalinki'll still be getting the lossless format but the only way to do that is thru b p seeing as though all the torrent sites that this is on are through membership only, and i can't get membership to any of them, the zomb doesn't send out the validation email.
so nothing against sebastian i respect his wishes, but it should have also been seeded on a public site for all to get.
thats why in the meantime im downloading this.
i wouldn't see the problem with 320kb/s mp3, thats over cd quality anyway as far as i can tell0 Like -

Permalinksebastians 2 versions (both 16 bit and 24 bit) of his paris bootleg were ORIGINALLY and STILL ARE at the traders den (http://www.thetradersden.org/forums/showthread.php?t=38756), a torrent website, with free unlimited sign ups that takes 2 minutes to complete. there are so many seeding it right now it won't take long to download.
Lots of programs are becoming FLAC compatible now, it's the same as when mp3's first started, they weren't compatible with anything other than a few programs on your PC. you can get rockbox to use FLAC on any ipod or other portable music device, any software player will have a plugin for FLAC, some CD players and car stereos now accept FLAC too.
the point about trading FLACS is that it means you get to choose how much you degrade it with the conversion. AND it means you don't have to degrade it at all if you don't want to, you can play the flacs, burn them to audio CD or whatever. That way everyone gets the same quality to start with, what you do from there is up to you, you can make it sound like crap and it won't affect others copies.
but trading mp3's even 320kbps, is LESS than CD quality (1411kbps). some people can tell the difference, some can't, so to please everybody it is provided at best quality to everyone, and you can drop it from there for personal use if you want.0 Like -

Permalinkif mp3 conversion really didn't matter to traders or tapers why would they keep bringing it up? It's obvious that it slowly degrades the pool of music in the trading community, it maeks the lossless version harder to find and harder to trust (could just be mp3 burnt to CD then ripped to FLAC, honest mistake or not)
if you are thankfull for the boots to exist and to be shared freely, then simply say thank you by keeping to the trading rules set out. it's not unreasonable, and many times the reasons for the requests have been outlined and explained, such as in this very thread.0 Like -

PermalinkOh my god. This is the post of the century. I can't thank you enough. And to anyone out there who has their panties in a bunch over sound file quality, FLAC U. A gift is a gift and the person who stood silent during this euphoric show to share it with the world is a hero to me. Forever in debt am I. Can't wait for the album!
